Question SMIC...Pettit, PFS, Greddy...Which is more effiecient?

I am in the market for a SMIC and I have looked at each of these 3 units because of the ability to not move the battery and also the fact that I can keep my Apexi intake. My question to you all is which is more efficient? The PFS has the entering and exiting side at the top therefore it must have to make a U to go around a wall or something at the bottom of the IC. The Greddy and Pettit work much like the stock IC it seems. Can the PFS be as efficient, more, or less? I guess this question can be asked about all of them. I know they are all head and heels over the stock unit but which one can I get the best bang for the buck out of.

Click on this link and read through it. Most of your questions should be answered:

I saw that webpage and it still left me with a couple of questions. It says that the Pettit wasn't the best as far as fitment goes (no numbers as far as pressure drop or hp gain) and that the PFS is better than stock(showing a 10hp and 15lb/ft gain and less pressure drop), but there is no mention of how the Greddy matches up with either one of them. I was seriously looking at the PFS anyway but is there any info out there on the Greddy?

From what Ive hunted. I like the reviews on the Greddy SMIC.
Also, dont forget about the Blitz one. The cheapest one available.

SpeedRacerRX7:

You are making too much out of this decision. In practice, all three ICs will pretty much perform equally. The PFS and Pettit have a MUCH better ducting system than the Greddy, which would rule out the Greddy in my mind.

I would just look for a used example of one of those ICs. Whichever one comes up with a good price in the classifieds. FWIW, I believe Devilish is still selling his PFS intercooler for a good price.

It's true the ducting on the GReddy is crap. Its been covered many times however it is very easy to make your own. It looks like zooq did for his red 7 and so did I.

The only problem I've had with the PFS is the stock battery hold down rubs on the end tank (and it looks like zooq's is very close to rubbing too). I solved this with a smaller battery and turbojeff's 51r battery tray. I think all of these ICs are limited by the amount of cooling airflow you can get through them. I have before/after pics. Not sure how to post to the forum though.

I agree with rynberg. They're all pretty much the same. This thread shows a few more pics (There is a link to a pic of my engine bay w/ Pettit CCII and apexi intakes), and discusses this a little more:

Me too, although I haven't installed Turbojeff's battery tray yet....

Agree with Max. I got the greddy smic used for $500 and fab'd my own duct by gently modifying a pettit duct. Fits great 99% sealed.
