bad wheel bearings? how can i tell?

just curious, what are the symptoms of wheel bearings going bad?

i'm hearing this light squiggling/whistling kind of sound from my rear. so i'm thinking it's the bushings or maybe the wheel bearings.

A wheel bearing typically sounds like a growl when it is going bad. The bad bearing will be louder when you turn away from it. For instance is it was the right rear the noise would get louder whenever you turn left.

that's not what's happening to me. i hear it from time to time when i'm going straight. i guess something in my rear suspension is loose or going bad.
