A gas odor is never normal.
Start by letting the car idle. Open the hood and sniff around. If you don't smell any gas while the car is idling, it's less likely to be a fuel leak (but not out of the question).
If you can't smell it at idle but only while on boost, the next things to check are:
1. Brake booster check valve
2. PCV aluminum check valve
3. LIM gasket

do a search on "fuel smell" and check out the threads. that should be enough motivation to get your car checked/fixed asap
Mahjik forgot to list the fuel pulsation dampener (FPD). Search for that too

Typically, with an actual fuel leak, you'll be able to smell it at idle not necessarily only on boost. While there are cases where it might need X amount of fuel pressure to make it happen, typically it's a valve or gasket failure if you can't smell it at idle.
