Was A Small StreetPort Enough For You?
I'm in the process of rebuilding an engine. I plan on having Pineapple Racing street port it (Rob has been very helpful answering all my stupid questions!). He is recommending a small street port to help spool the turbos as I plan to stay with a sequential setup and follow the M2 Twins path similiar to artguy and capt bill.
For those who have gotten a small street port was it enough, or did you desire a larger port shortly after you got used to the small street port?

I would trust Rob Golden's advice. A bigger port may make more top end but what you want is usable power across the rev range. This is the time to really sit and think where you want to go with the car (power level, type of driving).
He used a Stage 3 street port (large) on my engine where I told him the goal was a single turbo 400-450rwhp with a broad torque curve not just a peaky top end. My primary intake ports aren't that much bigger but the secondary intake ports are real big. From conversations with Rob and reading on the Forum, you don't want a huge exhaust port that slows down exhaust gas velocity/spool time. In another month or so, I'll have mine running with stock twins and can give some more feedback.
For another guy down here in New Orleans (Petros) who is staying with twins, Rob recommended the Stage 2 street port (considered small by his pricing). Pestros' motor is on its way back now so I have not seen the ports yet to compare.
Good luck,
Jack

I did mine with big-ish secondaries and primaries that are only a little bigger. My idea was to increase all the ports but keep them somewhat in proportion to each other. On the exhaust ports, I pretty much just went with the Mazdatrix template on those. Seems to work well for my setup. Drives very well with my single.

Oh my, I don't have any need for 500-rear-wheel-hp. FWIW, I don't think that kind of sustained power will hold up under road racing conditions...no wait... I KNOW THAT 500-RWHP, @17 PSI WILL NOT HOLD UP UNDER ROAD RACING CONDITIONS. I guess that's why I have yet to see you at any of the track days I put on @ Putnam Park??
As you know, I'm quite the road racing fiend, and strength, reliability and durability are the main priorities for me. This means I'm interested in a balanced blue-printed motor...perhaps the oil and coolant passages done, and "maybe" a small street port...this really depends on whether I'll need extra fuel and ECU stand alone (rather not do this for cost's sake).
How long would Rob Golden take to do a motor like that for me?

He told me 6 weeks it arrived @ my door 7 weeks later. I think his back log is down now though, he quoted a buddy of mine 3 - 4 weeks recently.
BTW: I hope to see you at the track next year! With the boost set @ the current wastegate spring pressure (10psi/.66bar) I'm at about 370 - 380rwhp. That should be trackable...eh? I really need some drivers education this beast enjoys scaring the living crap out of me now...
Will you still ride w/me as an instructor if I keep the boost down?

10 psi is definitely trackable, and 370 rwhp is more than enough to run with a Z06 @ Putnam Park or Mid Ohio
Sure Kyle I'll instruct you, in your silver beast...I'll just be sure to wear my "Depends"
