Slow acceleration, Noises from under the hood

hey guys, this is my first post. i just got a used RX-7 over the weekend, and its not running as well as i think it should be running. when i gas the pedal down all the way, it tends to accelerate really slowly and i can barely feel the turbo between 0-45 mph, maybe this is normal because its an automatic transmission but the part that concerns me the most is when i put the gear into N-neutral and if i gas it and let it go, it makes a gurgling/choking sound after. the rev up sounds nice and aggressive but its the sound that comes out when i let go of the gas pedal. anybody have problems similar to this before? any help would be cool.

Er, you should lay off the throttle until you figure out what's wrong. If you mash down the gas petal, it should feel "**** your pants fast". If you feel like yawning while doing a 0-60 run, you definately have a problem.

You probably have a boost leak somewhere. Best thing you can do is read up on the forum, and if you aren't mechanically inclined, take the car to a mechanic who knows how to work on these cars. There are probably other mechanical issues not taken care of.

Hope you have some money left over. You need a boost gauge for starters.

Next step is to find a factory service manual and start reading section F.

go to the regional forums and find a rotary specialist near you. as much of a friend as your dad's mechanic might be, if he doesn't know 3rd gens well you might just be wasting your time/money.

Most boost gauges are good enough for what they do. I'd pick one that appeals to you.

gotcha.

the car was dropped off @ J&G Automotive in my hometown. Hopefully, Gazo the mechanic will find out what's wrong with it.
