Slight Clunk when shifting into 1st?

I hear a slight clunk whenever I shift into 1st gear from neutral, from a stop. Is this normal?

I have the same problem, and I've been told that it's a case of worn bushings. More than likely the differential bushings, but it probably wouldn't hurt to replace all of them.

Do you mean AS you're shifting into the gear, with the clutch still in? Not as you let the clutch out and actually start to move, right?

me too

Yup that's right. The clunk sounds when the clutch is still in. But which bushings? Differential bushings? What rear bushings?

See, that's what makes me wonder HOW it can be the diff bushings if the clunk (and in my case, the slightest lurch forward) happens with the clutch in? I'm leaning toward need to adjust the clutch or bleed it. Any comments?

If you push the clutch in and hold it there for a couple seconds before putting it into gear, does it do the same thing? If not, you probably have air in your clitch line, or something else that's causing it to react slowly. I had that problem and a bleed fixed it.
