Size of transmission drain and fill plug

I'm trying to change my manual gear oil I used a 16mm to try to take off the bolt however there is some play in the wrench I really dont want to strip it. Does any one happen to know what size the filler plug bolt is? Should I try a vise grip?

most manufacturers use 10 mm, 12 mm, 14 mm & 17 mm, 19 mm. I would try 17 if 16 has too much play.

The fill takes a 14mm open ended wrench and the drain a 12.

why would you go up in wrench size when the smaller size was too loose?

You don't need to open the hex plug. The fill takes a 14mm open ended wrench. There are 2 drains and they take a 12mm open ended wrench and a 24mm socket.

So I take off two 12mm and the 24 is the biggest nut on the bottom, 3 total? Got confused with the 24 mm socket.

Fill is a 14. There are 2 drains: the 12mm near the bottom driver's side of the trans, and the 24mm on the trans pan.

Most people would try different sizes until they found the correct one.
That is called research.
