sitting engine....ok...yes/no?
i found a "new" reman engine. 0 miles, never used. was purchased from malloy mazda little over a year ago. its been sitting in the guys garage. Does a new reman sittin for such a long time but never being used make a difference? hurt the engine? its a good deal that I dont want to pass up if all is well. thanks for the input.

I do not think it makes much difference to the various seal springs. The pressure they exert does not vary much depending on rotor position. A piston engine when left sitting a long time has valves springs left under contant high compression which weakens the valve springs.
The only concern I would have is if water (coolant) was left in the engine.
I once took apart a rebuild because the owner wanted to port it and then reassemble it. Evidentily it had set for a long time with straight water coolant in it and had noticeably signs of bad electrolysis between the iron and aluminum housings. This engine was not from one of the better Mazda rebuilders.
Malloy has a good reputation.

i know what you mean about the water (coolant) sitting in the engine, but from what I understand it has never been installed since he has gotten it. hence 0 miles. so that shouldnt be a problem. I just didnt know if an unused motor would have any problems from sitting. i didnt think it would but just wanted to double check to make sure.

Otherwise, it sounds like you have a good find. Especially if you offer a little less than he paid, which should save you big $$$.
