Sitting for 3 months

My 7 has been sitting for 3 months with a dead battery and I'm scaird to start it up. Besides taking it easy for the first drive is there anything else I should do?

This electrical drain has been with me for several years now. My electrical knowledge has been to hook up a volt meter to the battery and verofy that there is an increased load even when the car is shut off. I dont know whats causing the drain. Does anybody know of a good electrical shop near long beach or in L.A.

How fast does your batt drain? Do you have any aftermarket alarm, stereo, turbo timer, any lights or other electrical items? Does the fan run after you shut engine off and keep going? Any interior or exterior light stay on? How about the light in glove box?

If the voltimeter shows that your battery's voltage drops steadily after engine is off, there is a drain. Otherwise, your alternator could be bad. Also, old/defective battery has hard time keeping a charge. Try a new battery too, it's cheap diagnostics.
