Single plate or Twin Plate
guys
i need some of your experience consultings...about clutches...
i'm having some issue here with clutch reliability....
- my Exedy clutch plate (with OEM Cover) worns out about a year time...
- my OEM clutch is now 8 months old got some smell when doing hard throttle especially twin turbo switch over... still original clutch cover
my question is that...
should i just upgrade to Super Single Clutches (4 pug, 6 pug) or Twin plate clutches ?
- i'm aiming for clutch reliability.... drivability wise i still need a little bit as i'm in a country that has alot of traffic jams....
i've heard before super single clutches doesn't last....their plate worn out fast...
but i'm not too sure about twin plates... and i'm not sure about how un-friendly is twin plates...
the car is not meant for daily driven... only once to twice a week... and some track events...need recomendation..

ok the twin plate will prob do everything you want and hold plenty of power! I am not sure how much power your producing but if your just around 350hp or less at the wheels which i assume you are since you said twin turbos.. youd prob just be good with a spec 2 or spec 3 clutch honestly..

okay.. how about the reliability?
does those stage 4 clutches last as good as twin plates?
yeah i'm kinda stock.. making a little power... about 300 plus rwhp only...for torque... forgot the number :P
exedy is easy access in my country... maybe i'll source it... or even a mazda speed super single clutch... but i need to consider where to get the replacement if i choosed mazdaspeed.

NAN777,
You need to start taking a look at the clutch specs. That's how you'll know what will or will not work for your setup. As I mentioned, clutches are typically rated by torque output. With your setup, you are probably around 250 ft/lbs of torque so you can use that to find a suitable clutch in your area.
You don't need to buy a clutch which supports 650 ft/lbs or torque for "reliability". For "reliability", you need to consider replacing or resurfacing your flywheel with the clutch change. Sometimes that can cause the clutch to start slipping way before its time not addressing the flywheel during a clutch change.

when my clutch goes out if it does, im going the hyper single clutch, unless im rich by then and can just afford the dual. they look to be amazing clutches with insane power handling, and oem feel and driveabilty.
