Silver on Red FD wrecked!

My silver on red 93 just got totaled! I need to prove to the insurance co. that the color combination was very rare. I found the numbers for exterior by doing a search but can't find interior lists. Mazda claims they never kept track of those numbers back then. If anyone has this info or knows were to find it please let me know! Thank you,
-Eli James

Mazda does not have any numbers. We only know that it is rare by how unoften we see it. Are you right in Madison? I've never seen an Silver FD's around.

Sorry to hear the bad news about the accident. Good luck on getting the numbers and proving it to the insurance. Was anyone injured?

BTW, got any pics?

yeah theres nothing you can do...you would have needed to get the car apraised (before hand) then gotten insurance for they apraised fee (i have no idea how any of that works)

I'm glad my car is still safe at KDR right now without anyone driving it with all these wrecked FD threads starting up. Its scary!

But yes, the silver on red is quite rare. If you search hard enough someone might have some numbers but I'm not sure. Good luck though. Its a real shame about the car.

I see there is a couple people from wisconsin. I dont see to many fd's around, especially silver on red. Where abouts in wisconsin are you from diablone? Also that really sucks...sorry to hear about the car. I think the silver on red is a really nice combo to go with. Good luck on figuring out how many there are.

Unless you can prove it through numbers provided by the manufacturer (highly unlikely) or through various vintage car registration organizations, you will have a very difficult case. Regardless, the insurance company will not offer you more money than the stated blue book value unless both of you have agreed to declare it on the policy, and you would have paid higher premiums as such.

Each state will have specific laws to insurance as well. Check to see what you may have going for you. Some companies will use the NADA guide too. For Illinois, retail prices are used as well, so that could help drive your claim up if WI will recognize it.

If you can find a similar car for sale (good luck with that), you can use that as a basis for re-negotiating the insurance value for your car.

When I totaled my '91 FC convertible, my insurance company low-balled me. I found a few '91 FCs ads and they gave me a higher value. If you have receipts for stuff, you can also use that to negotiate a higher value.

I'm sorry to hear about your FD, I hope nobody got hurt.

Base on all of information I gathered and read, sorry to inform you that it is highly likely Mazda only tracked the production quantity for exterior color and not have any record of both exterior and interior combine.

For Exterior color production qty, here is the website:
http://alecto.bittwiddlers.com/vehic...-numbers.shtml
At least it will be some kind of help.

This is the 3rd-4th new wracks I read in the past couple weeks, we need to do a better job on preserve this car for future generation.....people need to drive more carefully and responsible!

A lot of people who have no idea on this forum keep saying more wracks meaning our remaining cars are going to be more valuable but they don't realize it also comes along with a negative trade off meaning less vendors will produce parts and services for our cars in the future and it will get lot more expensive to maintain and keep it running in good condition....

Use the for sale adds at msn.com, in their used autos section to help illustrate the market price of your car. Most cars there will be stock, instead of what you find on ebay.

Don't look at the value of your car on Kelley Blue Book. It will make you upset. So the value of my 93 R1 with 60K miles is $8000! Sweet!

I hate the Kelley Blue book and the NADA book. Both are too low when talking to insurance companies and a loan officer at a bank.

Rebuild the bitch! That's the best color combination and is probably the rarest of the bunch.

Hate to hear the bad news. Glad to hear you are ok. I am currently having a motor rebuilt for my Silver/Red fd and will have it for sale in a couple of weeks. I am not a big fan of the color combo but it is rare.

Good luck.
