You either have a hose that's not the right size (2 3/4" is correct) or you're using worn-out hose clamps that are stripped and not tight enough. If you have the stock Y-pipe parts you're good, if you have some homemade or aftermarket crossover pipe that doesn't have a bead at the base to prevent blowoff that's another problem.

A cheap set of worm drive clamps from Lowes and a 2 3/4" silicone coupler is what I've used on many cars for many years with NO failures.

Or, upgrade to the "Efini" Y-pipe as Mahjik states.

That hose usually ends up extra crispy from engine heat.

Replace the coupler with a new one.

Even MAZDA essentially admitted that coupler wasn't a great design and re-engineered to eliminate it. A new replacement silicone coupler will run around $15 with shipping. For around $100 you can upgrade to a used Efini which also flows better.

buy a pair of T-Bolt clamps and get rid of the worm clamps

and get a new silicone hose coupler.

You'll spend MAYBE $50 total
