Should i get a 94 rx7
Which year is the most reliable out of a 3rd generation? I found a Black 94 with 50000 miles on it for 16995. I think its a good deal and its in excellent condition. SHould i get this 1994? I ran a carfax and it came up clean. thanks.

Yes, although I'd make an effort to talk down the price.
It's winter, the season when sportscars don't sell, and the used car market is glutted right now, in part because of no interest loans on new cars. Dealers are hurting, and private party sales are having a tough time too. It's a great time to be a buyer. Use your leverage.

All 3rd gens were pretty much equally reliable. If you get the car and it's completely stock, you will have a small list of preliminary reliability mods that you'd need to do just to get it where it should be. Since all of the US imported FD's are pretty much the same, you're stuck with most of the same quirks/flaws as all of the other units (the JDM units had some vacuum mods at some point that cleaned up the rats nest, etc., but you don't live in Japan :P).
Just get the FD, do the reliability mods, do your routine maintenance responsibly and drive it sanely.

thats not paint....
I purchased a White 94 and love it. 60k on the body and a fresh rebuild. If I were to do it again I would go for a 94 or 95. For me it would have been pushing it for financing on a 93. Plus I like not having my paint chipping and my dash peeling. Anyway, I cannot emphasize this the most, test-drive the car!! And others so you can get comparison!! If you can find a car treated nice and runs great then common sense, it will have less problems. If you are looking for something reliable maybe you should rethink the car. I’m not saying don’t get a RX-7, they are great, I love mine to death. You should be prepared to either work on your car or have a good amount of cash saved to have someone work on it. Parts are also a pain; to me the closest dealer is 30 minutes away. I end up ordering frequently from Mazdatrix, it saves money and occasionally time. Whatever you do don’t rush into buying it and like I said before try to drive a car in perfect working condition so you can compare to the one your buying.

Oh yeah, that is one thing, the 93 dash looks a LOT better then the 94/95 dash. Yeah the EARLY 93s, actually 92s peel some, but if they are going to peel at all they have already done it. If the dash is peeling, don't buy it, if it isn't then great
The 94/85 dash looks like cheap/is cheap plastic, the 93 dash at least looks softer and more asthetically pleasing IMO.

the year is not very important. The condition of the car is. As long as the car is good. Go for it.

94-95 are better. 93 had problems with interior paint chipping. 93 also had a weaker pressure plate. Some 93's had paint chipping problems. Plus the later the car, then you know what recalls/TSB were done.
93s did have stiffer rear sway bars though.
Gauges are slightly different through the years.

I prefer the 94-95s over the 93s. The less then steller paint jobs and peeling interiors were enough to turn me away from them. But I have seen alot of very good condition 93s out there...
