Should i buy the RX7????

Hi all. I currently driving a 02 wrx. I have helix up/down pipe, HKS hi power exhaust, GFB BOV adn Front and rear strut. It has about 42k miles on it. I am considering selling it for a 93 & up RX7. i would buy one that had just recently had a motor swap so it has somewhere under 30k miles. If i couldn't find one like that i'll buy one with high milage and do the motor swap myself. If i do buy the rx7 i'm thinking i'll have about 3k to put into it right away at least. I wanna know how fast i would be able to get it for 3k in the 1/4 mile safely? Also how good is the handeling on this car? Would it be a good choice for all around racing? If not which other car should i get for around 17k used?? thx

What's wrong with your car? WRX's are sick.

sounds like its right for you

you are shooting for a good price and it sounds like you can afford to replace the engine when it needs to be done and yes it handles like a mother I dont think theres many cars that are better in the world especially with some suspension mods

if the car is totally stock you can get an intake, downpipe, midpipe, catback, boost controller, and a piggy back ecu or a total replacement ecu and run mid 12s all day long at the track. Then add an intercooler a fuel pump a little larger injectors and tuning and youll run 11s all day long....a few have even hit 10s on stock twins like that. With a single turbo 11s and 10s are common as you need about 450rwhp to get into 10s because the car is so light

Wrx's aren't bad but there are a few main problems that I personaly have with it. First of all the only reason their 1/4 mile times are so good is because of the AWD launch. If you don't launch at 6500(which destroys your tranny) your times will be MUCH MUCH slower. Also. After 2nd gear the wrx is sort of slow in my opinion at least. Another thing is the handeling. It's a common misconception that wrx's have really really good handeling. Let me be the first to tell you they don't. They DO have alot of GRIP cause of AWD but their handeling isn't that great. As a personal preference of mine i like smaller cars so i think the rx7 is right for me... well i hope

The 7 is about one of the best track cars out there, its almost a sin to use it for drag with all the R&D that mazda put into this little puppy. My advice is to 1.) use the search tool to find alot of your questions and 2.) try and meet up with local 7 people to check out their cars and ask them face to face. It will save you alot of time and effort and should be a fun experience. Do ALL of your research first on the car, it isnt one that you can just jump into, make sure you know of all the 'possible' problems that can pop up.

your WRX is probably your daily driver right?? If so... make sure you get ANOTHER daily driver when you buy your seven. Rx7s are too nice to drive daily.. well, IMHO.

very good point, dont DD the 7. I would recommend a Saturn for a daily, they are reliable and dirt cheap.

All you did for the suspension was strut tower bars? Did you at least put better tires on it?

It will never be a sleek monster like the FD; but with mods you can have it handling pretty well.
