Should I Buy a Power Pulley Kit?
I'm thinking of buying a power pulley kit from Pettit. It's approx. $250, and as you probably know, supposedly underdrives accessories by 25%, yielding up to a claimed 10hp. I've heard from a few of you, as well as my dealer, that there is no real downside. I'm wondering whether those of you who have added them noticed an improvement in acceleration to justify the cost.
I also notced they have a new lightweight one for $50 more. I've read about the advantages and disadvantages of lightweight flywheels, but I haven't read anything about lightweight pulley kits.

I had some other stuff installed at the same time as my pulleys, so I don't know the actual benefit of them.
That little extra power though will help with your low end power, so every little bit helps. Be sure of what you are ordering. If you are keeping your aip pump, I think only one of the kits will do.

I have a 94 R2. After installing a Pettit Airbox/Induction system, Pettit catback (Borla), and Pettit pulley system, it was dynoed at 305.

Are you sure thats 305 at the wheels. I dont think the pulleys free up any dead weight have you seen the stock e-shaft pulley, its pretty light. Its not like other cars that have a dampner on it with makes it weigh a lot more. I'm actually taking off my power pulley and putting back my stock one, i took off my air pump and dont like the way the belt just rides on the water pump pulley. I could get the greddy pulleys but i rather have my car charge up fully. I dont drive my car much and would like my battery to be fully charged all the time. I may just get a pulley for my water pump and run the stock crank pulley and stock alternator pulley. I guess it depends on what you want for your car. This might not make any sens but i took off my power steering and i'm thinking about taking off my ac. I think doing this will give me the same benefits of any under drive pulley set. By the way i live in San Francisco and i really dont need the ac.

Okay,
I bought the pulley set to disconnect the air pump, not to gain horsepower. I was putting in a custom FMIC in, and the pump was getting in the way no matter which way I installed the pipes. I removed it, and I also removed my AC and PS at the same time. Very mild horsepower gain doing this, but since removing the ac/ps was FREE, I'm not sure where the extra horsepower came from.
