Question Which short shifter kit should I get?

I am currently debateing on what short shifter kit to get for my FD. As of now my shifter is really fucked up. When it's in gear it feels like it is in neutral because the rubber housing peices that go around the shifter dryrotted and broke apart. I would like to hear your thoughts on the B&M short shifter kit and the RX7-Store.net short shifter kit. I have heard that both are good and pretty easy to install.

The type of shift I am looking for is pretty small. If you have ever driven a Subaru WRX then you know what I am talking about. That's the kind of shift I am looking for and if anyone knows which kit gets as close to that then please reply with your thoughts.

Everyone's opinion is appreicated.

Thanks,
jwaingold

C's short shift kit is one of the best, IMO.

So I guess the B&M kit wins. That is the one I was going to go with in the first place but I wanted to hear everyone's opinion; and it's also cheaper than the RX7-Store.net one.

Thanks for the replies,

I wouldn't exactly strive to replicate the WRX's shifter as it is a piece of junk. You'll like your B&M though.

The C's and Mazdaspeed's have more throw reduction than the B&M.

They also have quite a bit more wallet reduction.

don't judge solely based on throw reduction. my friend's fd had some short shifter where the throws were ridiculously short, but the was extremely notchy and just plain felt like ****! while i never drove an fd with a stock shifter, i must say that i really like the b&m that came on my car. shifts are short but the quality of the shifting is still smooth.

those of you who have had crappy, super notchy and vague SSK in other cars hopefully know what i mean.

So I guess it's just Jason and I with the C's vs you guys in the B&M corner.

Just for fun I just picked a couple sites and compared.

$320 for the C`s from a moron. plus shipping
$299.95 for the B&M plus shipping

Then the C`s again from a cool guy hehe $235.95 shipped

B&M from another ok guy for $179.95 plus shipping

I havent used the B&M but based on the reviews on it, I never would. Too many people say GREAT and too many say RATTLES all the times.

SO i guess I would have a 50/50 chance of getting something good or shitty..

The rattling is more than likely not shifter related, but bushing related. Do any of the short shifters come with new bushings? If not, has anyone replaced them to try to end the rattlings?

I had a short shifter on my MX-6 that I had before the FD, and it rattled a bit, but if I held down the bushing while it was rattling, it would stop. So I replaced the bushing and all was good. I assume the FD's problems would be similar.

911GT2,

Almost all of them come with new shifter bushings (the one at the bottom).

I don't know about the Mazdaspeed ****, but the stock **** works just fine on the RX-7 Store Short Shift kit. I ended up switching to the Razo CF weighted **** though.
