B&M is the choice, although a properly shortened stock shifter is very desairable.

Mazdaspeed or RE.

RE is pretty much stock people say with not much shortage in throw.

MS is short and crisp, but not as notchy as b&m.

I had stock, a cut version of stock, a b&m and a mazdaspeed.

I still have the mazdaspeed because its the best out of all i had.

i have had a b&m for a couple years it was only notchy for the first month or so then it softened up and is now short and smooth.

I had the B&M and just switched to Mr. C's (similar to mazdaspeed). I like it much better. The B&M worked well but a little to notchy for me and took more effort to shift. The Mr. C's is much easier to shift but still gives nice short throws. Just my 2 cents.

I modified my factory shifter. I love it as it's not notchy but surely has a reduced throw.

i have only had the stock and b&m shifter, so i have no other aftermarket shifter to compare it with. but i love the b&m, i personally like the more notchy feel...shifts feel more solid and throws are fast and short, with nearly no play.
