Shifter Problems

A friend and I just got done doing the fifth gear syncro install. Everything went together very smoothly. But now that we have the tranny mated back up to the engine we can't get the shifter back on the trans. The hole inside the trans that the bottom of the shifter hooks to is way back towards the rear of the trans. We also tried moving it to the neutral position without the shifter with no luck. Any ideas as to what this problem could be????? I would really appreciate any input.
Thanks
Dave

you goofed up nothing serious though...

**** im trying to remember..

Ok remember when you took it apart there was those 3 shafts one for 1+2 one for 3+4 and one for 5+R. And on those there was those thing (i dont know what they are called but you had to removed them to get firther in your tranny) You knocked on of the things into gear when you putting it back together. I did the same on mine tooks a couple times

hit me up on aim cause its hard to explain in here

One thing though...it doesnt sound serious

aim = obviousboy

I know exactly what your talking about. We actually pulled one up to get the main cover on. When we had them all in the neutral position the cover wouldn't go on. Did you have this problem too. Thanks for the reply.

Is obviousboy talking about roll-pins?

Yeah, I believe so. We pulled one up and threw it into first gear...but when we put the bell housing on, i don't think we put it on right (i don't think it's between the pins). I'm sure that's it. I talked to obviousboy on the phone tonight and he did the same thing. I guess it is really hard to line it all up right.

For clarification it wasn't the bell housing that we couldn't get on it was the extension housing. It also wasn't the roll pins that were giving us trouble it was what they hold on (the shift). When we had them all in the neutral position that’s when we couldn't get the extension housing on.

Sorry about the bad terminology...I can be a moron sometimes. Thanks for clarifying!
