Shifter install
I have ordered a new B/M short throw and wondered what else I will need. Note - I am converting my auto to a manual, so I have not seen a manual shifter as of yet on a FD. I don't have the manual tranny yet either, but I want to buy as many of the new parts now that I'll need later. Is there a new bushing for the bottom of the shifter that I need ? Any other stock shofter parts that go in there ?

There is a shift seat, that I had to remove from the OEM shifter and put on the B&M shifter. It's a small nilon (?) part that fits the bottom of the shifter and fits inside the seat inside the tranny. I'd check on this, since you don't have an OEM shifter to remove it from.

Yea I think that is the bushing. I will need to find one of those. Anyone have a Mazda part number for that thing ?
Other than that, then it's just a boot and **** - correct ?

Yep, easy install. 4 allen head bolts. You'll need some gear oil to put in the top of the tranny where the shifter goes. the allen head to tighten them down. That little nylon bushing. And a 10mm deep socket ratchet/wrench to finish the install.
its a simple install that should take you no more than 15 minutes, but thats saying nothing goes wrong. Only thing that would be a good idea to get would be buy a new shifter bushing for it. Get a hold of some good blue ATV sealant/gasket, and your good to go.
I THINK that bushing P/N is R503-17-481. It's on the downloadable parts list, but not drawn the right size. It looks like the two ring shaped bushings on the stock shifter ball which are P/N M501-17-515 (not on the parts list). Ray at Malloy will know these.
Confusing.

I would go with the Mazda Comp. Alum. bushing, some of the shifter kits come with this or a brass one. Mazda Comp sells them for about 10, some other RX& shops for 15 - 30. The nylon wearing in cometion/hard use and can lead to miss shifting. Also need rubber boots etal.
