Shifter housing oil?

Like a lot of other people I have the common notchyness in my shifter. I have a B&M ,short throw and while inspecting the unit I saw it was leaking a slight bit of oil from the sides.

Accordingh to my FSM I am missing a few washers / bushings from my setup , but I am not sure if all of these are needed with the B&M unit.

Anyways I read a few posts about people using like bearing grease in there shifter housings to help eliminate the notch issue , is this good/bad advice? I have some neo synthetic 75W 90 as well if this would be the better option. Thanks in advance for the help!

Use tranny lube in the shifter housing.

Using grease may make it feel less notchy but it's not the proper lubricant for the parts. If you want it to feel less notchy get rid of the short shifter.

I use the Neo as well and love it.

The FSM specifies grease at the ball pivot and the lower bushing in addition to filling the extension housing with fluid.
