Setting up bumper lights to run when car is on (JDM)?

I have a JDM fd. The bumper lights don't turn on with ignition like USDM models. I bought a daytime running light module to achieve the desired task, but looking at it I think it's a waste of money.

Can I simply splice the bumper lights into an ignition voltage source? I really suck with electrical stuff . If so, where can I find a handy source near the front bumper?

Thanks.

i hooked mine directly to ignition source when ignition was on, i just tapped into one of the relays on rh side by strut brace, kinda hid wire just incase inspection place were dicks, then i just hooked it back up stk after inspection. did u hook up a clutch kill switch? change all bulbs to proper amperage? these r just a couple things that need done to pass properly, also your headlights don't have DOT on them, just play stupid lol

CAREFULL!!! read your local laws carefully. I live in ontario I do not have day time running lights and its cool perfectly legal if i ever set them up to run when the igniton turns on then i have to maintain that system.

I am pretty sure bc is the same so consider if turning the **** one a click to get the lights on is that big of a problem. because if you install it its just one more thing you have to keep working

all the things i suggested are the law in bc, u must have running lights, i just went thru this when my jdm got here last year, after the inspection nobody gives a rats *** here. rcmp are not as **** as opp. you could be missing doors, as long as u have insurance & a license they don't care

It would be better to pull voltage from a properly fused switched 12v source, than just pulling from a random switched 12v. There are a couple of illumination circuits that run through the DS fender area, don't know if they are straight switched 12v or run off of some sort of relay. The only straight illumination circuit that I know of, that is fused and comes on with ignition, is the cigarette lighter illumination. You could figure out where that is fused and pull power from it at the driver's side fuse panel in the footwell. There are wires that run from that area into the wheel well, above the fendershroud and along the fender into the front of the car where you find the power distribution center, x-11 and x-12 connectors. This then goes to the headlights and the main relay panel at the front of the car. You could tap a wire into the illumination circuit, run it along this wire run and shroud it in the factory shrouding...y it at the ds bumper light and run it under the hood latch area in that same shrouding, and terminate it at the passenger side bumper light. Then properly ground the other side of the bulb and BINGO, you're done!

That would be the **** retentive way to do it.

For a much simpler way, you can find pretty much any switched 12v lead in the engine bay (diagnostic connector has one, windshield wiper motor has one...there are many more...) and just run a wire straight from there to your bumper lights. They don't even have to be wired i series as long as you don't mind them pulling voltage from multiple fused circuits separately. Or you could just find the bumper light positive lead from reading the wiring diagram and connect it to switched 12v somewhere...instead of being activated by the headlight switch.

I would just take a voltmeter and find the closest switched 12v lead and do it that way to pass inspection, then do it the **** retentive way (my personal favorite) once time was no longer a factor.

But since my car is totally apart, and if I am being totally honest, I would do it the right way the first time....Probably creating my own brand new fused circuit off of switched 12v and running the wire in factory shrouded harness.

thanks for all the info. I will likely do whatever is easiest and then just dismantle it after the inspection. I'm really REALLY bad with wiring. I understood about 40% of what kraemer said above.
