Question september issue of import tuner rx7 article

in the september issue of import tuner there is an article on page 86 that states a stock 93 rx7 should be putting about 217hp to the rear wheels. is this an acurate #? the article also says that this rx7 only put 201hp on the first dyno run. then they found and corrected all the vacume leaks. the second run produced 230.5hp. i was just wondering if anyone has run a stock 7 on a dyno?

255 * .85 (15%) = 216.5 = 217. that's probably where they got that figure from.

217 is about right. From what I've read, a completely stock car typically puts out between 210 and 220 corrected RWHP.

As a point of reference, my car dynoed 225 corrected RWHP with a downpipe as my only mod.

Chris at RP has told me before that he has seen many stock 3rd gens come in and only dyno at 200 RWHP because of leaks, etc, etc. The dyno can be a really good tool.

Mazda's torque figure for the 93 RX-7 was 217 ft/lb. Maybe they made a mistake?

What? lol

255 is the supposed flywheel hp. The 217 figure is the hp actually put to the ground by the rear wheels. Most people agree a 15% driveline loss is reasonable.

Not much really... That is all the "Slack" in the driveline that you cant really take out.
