Seperating the engine and tranny??
I just about have this mother pulled out . But I can't seem to seperate the engine from the tranny. I am not exactly sure why the Wedge collar and wire ring will not seperate. Any suggestions??? Quick response please!!!

I see this forum no longer functions. The 3rd gen forum is basically a big ******* lounge act now.
this should be a place for tech support on 3rd gens and I see **** like"I just wenty single" and "my firts time at the track" and even threads about rims>? wtf ??
Mods are you guys asleep at the wheel or what? There are forums for all these other threads and should be placed accordingly.

If that doesn't work then start to loosen the clutch bolts one at a time until you have htem all somewhat loose and then it should just pop apart.
Good Luck.

Dave,
Did you pull both the engine and tranny apart at the same time? If you have access to a lift, that's what I would do. If not, then proceed as planned.

Dave,
This is what I do, makes it real easy...
Remove the two (or is it 3?) bolts holding the clutch slave to the trans and pull it out at least partially so that it's not right up against the fork any longer.
Remove BOTH cover plates (one on bottom, easy to see; one up near the clutch slave, harder to see).
Now reach into the cover plate near the clutch slave and pull on the fork so that it forces the wedge collar end in towards the engine. Now, holding that there, take a large screwdriver and put it in through the bottom inspection hole and hold the collar part against the pressure plate snugly. Now, release the hold on the slave end.
What should happen is that the fork will pull back away from the engine, but since you still have your screwdriver in there holding the collar area, it will pull the release bearing out without wedging the wedge collar.
I hope this is an ok explanation. This does NOT take a lot of force at all when you do it right. It's easy to do, but hard to explain Plus, I"m not exactly sober now

Thanks Brian I think I got the jist of that. I will give that a go in a little bit. You could come down today and help me do it After I get It out I am pulling off the bullshit and cracking open the engine.
Do you still have your porting templates? I may need them.

Dave,
Did my advice work? How's the engine look? Sorry I couldn't come help today but I already had other plans.
I have my porting templates of course... When are you planning on doing the porting? Maybe you could come over sometime and we could do them together and make a video?

I'm a CF and poop smith
too bad you did not take video of the engine removal, Does anyone have one of that such as like taking appart all the engine connectors/bolts/lines?
Wasn't someone gonna make a video of that, like the entire process of pulling, rebuilding and putting back in an engine?
