350z's do NOT handle boost very well. I wouldn't recommend boosting past 8 psi. Greddy I believe recommends around 6.7psi with their TT kit.

Go past 8.. well I hope you've done something with your internals. KABOOM!

A buddy of mine has one stock, and it was surprisingly fast and torquey, I dont get that nice turbo boosting feel or sound "YET" but its fairly good stock "To my Surprise"

Well sounds like your getting it. All I can say now is if you don't like loud exhausts, don't get the RS*R cat-back. Although personally I think it sounds sexy as hell.

Z only feels faster because rotary has almost no power at all before turbo(s) spool up, especially if you have a single setup. Z gives a constant V6 feeling whereas RX7, before the turbos even go online, feels slower than a Honda Civic.

I had 2 Z's before; Nismo package 2006 and 2006 track edition. Terrible car. If anything, I'd rather get its predecessor AND successor, 300ZX. It's way fking better.

N/A and cheap to maintain? SC300 or 300ZX would be my choice.

True, especially at top end rx7 all the way....... but once I turbo it, it will be the same.... as for the 300zx, those are nice but than thats an older car as well and Im looking for something new and with less issues.

Im still debating, it hurts to give up my 7.....

I have both but......I don't know.....I wouldn't do it.
350's are fun.....i think you'll definitely notice the torque your FD is missing which is nice. My FD is a lot funner to drive though. I hope you don't plan on putting a kid in the Z. I don't think that'll work out. Look into evo's or sti's, both nice cars.

I'll share a pic with ya. 04 Super Black with 20'' Zeniks Z9 Sabani.

There not as fun because they weigh more and are N/A, once I start modding her up it will be a different story

As for your question, No kids in the Z.

I think you're already set on what you want to buy, so I say just go with your heart. It's better to go with something that you have a hunch on than..this.

Relatively speaking though, RX7 is just better.

By all of your responses defending the z I’d say you have more than made up your mind.

my car was broken and i couldnt afford to fix it right away so i traded my car for a miata for daily driving. it helped me get my sports car fix for the time being then i changed jobs and my brother beat me on the interstate in his honda pilot so i sold it bought a cts for the g/f a jag for myself and rebuilt the rx. now i couldnt be happier that i kept and rode the storm out. i didnt owe anything so it was the same story just watched it sit in the garage for 1 1/2 years.....sucked.

p.s. when i bought my car i was only 18 and i bought it in cincinatti and i have it 5 yrs now but the point of the story was that when i bought it the guy told me that he had a guy show up with the asking price the day before and he wouldnt sell it to him because it was for his teenage daughter. haha then he sold it to me for 2k less. i sure did like that guy

i wouldn't get the 350 just b/c everyone else has it. if someone rolls up in a 350 next to you at stop light, you're not going to really take notice, where as if a rx7 rolls up next to you, you'll be more likely to say "wow when was the last time i saw one of those? " i do agree though that they are more updated and reliable, but seriously, to turbo a 350 is going to cost a TON of money (look up z1 motorsports for prices, they have the twin turbo system for 350s)

edit:

if you didnt already know, z1 motorsports is known nation wide for being one of the best 300zx/350z tuners out there. here's their twin turbo system:

http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35...oducts_id=1986

at a cost of nearly $8,000, it's quite up there. i am assuming you want a twin turbo system, not single for your 350 b/c you're probably used to the rx7's twin turbos.

vettes are way overpriced for wat you get outa them, s2ks have extremely low torque and wat makes it semi fast is its v-tech, and mx-5's are fine but he's replacing an rx7 not a nissan sentra

the 350 is a perfect choice if you ask me. there like 7's acceleration wise. they run forever if you maintain them well. my friends has all bolt ons and some internal uprades and he has never had any problems. he loves it. plus the high torque makes for a great ride

Vettes, S2ks and MX-5s are the only cars on the road under $25k that can handle anywhere close to as well as an FD.

S2ks are considerably quicker than 350Zs. Vettes are quicker than any of the other cars including the FD, and a nice C5 can be had for under $20k.

Zs are slow and handle like Mustangs. In the hands of a skilled driver, you can get the around a track, but your average joe is going to be spinning into the grass at the first corner. The Z will run forever? Hello, you're compairing it to a Vette, Miata and S2000. Three cars known for running lap after lap at the track, then driving you to work the next morning.

The Z is a low 14 second car stock, the FD is a mid 13 second car stock...hardly "similar acceleration".

The long of the short of it is, if it were my choice, I'd get the 350Z to be a daily driver for the FD, but I'd never consider the Z to be a replacement. It just can't do what the FD can, but there are some cars that can come close...

Most of the Rx7s i see are not very impressive. I love this car so much, but not everyone shares our view. Almost every 350z you see stands out more because it is so much cleaner and modified than most FDs you see. It's very rare to see an FD. It's extremely rare to see a really nice FD. For those of us that have exceptional FDs, how many times have you seen an FD that comes close in comparison?

Wow, vettes are priced great around the same price as the FD. Plenty fast, torque, easy to extract power, reliable. If it weren't for the love of the FD I have and everything about it, I would buy a vette. If my FD pops another motor, I would grab a C5 in a snap of a finger! They are very a like to me except the motor.

Well, I meant it from the point of view of the other guy who isn't sitting in a FD..heh. And yes I agree, while a clean and tastefully modified FD will turn heads more than a 350z will, you're more likely to see a stock FD that probably hasn't been washed and is in need of a paint job. But that's not too hard to fix And once it is, oh man, people will just see pure sex on wheels rolling next to them.
