Seibon TS fitment issue

I test fitted my hood a few days ago and all is well except for the end with the latch area. The two rubber bump stops are about 1/2" away from the hood. With that, the middle of the hood don't line up with the 99 spec bumper I have. When I press down on the hood it lines up but is this normal? Obviously by pressing down on it it's bending down the front of the hood from the other rubber bump stops behind the two previously mentioned.

Any input would be appreciated.

Eddie

try it without the bump stops, then decide if trimming the bump stops might help.

I would imagine without the standoffs closer to the strut mount the lines of the fender will be higher then the hood. The hood would appear to be sunk down. Now as it sits it's all flush there just not flush with the bumper unless you push it down.

I could try and remove the two shorter stand offs. Maybe a 3-4mm difference there would make up the bigger gap on the other end.

Have you ever removed the bump stops? There are two different heights, maybe they are switched around.

Yeah they were off.. should be short in the rear tall in the front as far as I know cause tall in rear would cause the hood to be really high

Do you mind sharing where you purchased it from? I don't feel like paying 1k for the hood

I went through seibon distributor in canada and they put me in contact with a local aftermarket accessories store. I would imagine with a bit of tinkering with the rear bump stop height I might get it to fit better in the front or worst case less of a push down to Latch in.

Ok, so i tried removing the smaller bump stops and replacing them with a bolt and nut to adjust height and it improved the fitment up front but dropped the hood along the fender line. After taking another look at it, i realize that the pressure required to push down to latch the hood should be insignificant. It does somewhat push up on the hood in the middle of the hood towards the rear bump stop but minimal. Mostly i was afraid that after releasing the hood with the interior mechanism overtime may result in paint cracking from it flexing but it would be nothing compared to the 99 spec OEM bumper upon removal.

Here are a few pictures just in case i lost anyone lol.

Well the way it sits there, the latch hook is sitting free. The latching mechanism isn't on the car.

When it's all back together and the latch didn't bring it down far enough I would say you could modify it. Zip off the hook and weld it back on. I will snap a picture tonight when I get home.

I think the hood is defective, and should be returned, or your front bumper is out of alignment.
