Question Seeking Ultimate Mods. List

New owner of a 100% stock 1993 twin turbo that runs perfect. However my dream is to have this baby running in the 10's within the next 6 months. I am ready to begin this project with 5gran. I know that I will need a lot more $$, however help me get started by providing the ultimate modification list in terms of performance and reliability. Please include the order in which to install the mods. Also include all the little things that are overlooked like replacing vacuum hoses, radiator hoses etc, please also include all the guages I will need and the brand name of all mods. I was considering a single turbo.

Just from what I've done and what my mechanic recommends as to getting the best times at the track.

Radiator and AST should be the first things you get done. After that I recommend and intake and full exhaust with an upgrade to the ECU. After that upgrade the entire fuel system and ignition. Pulleys, intercooler, y-pipe, and of course a tune! Don't forget to upgrade that rear end, axle, and clutch/flywheel. Then if you get into the 10's on stock motor and twins I shall bow down.

Sure there is much more you need to do but we shall wait til someone else posts.

With only 5grand, I seriously think you need to go reconsider your priorities. On a stock '93 running perfect, don't fix what is not broken. May be some reliablity mods but thats it for you.No trying to into 10s or whatever. Try going for a advance driving course to know how to control the 7 first.
After that , than think about getting into the 10s or 11s. Plan your mods in stages over a period of time. That way you will not risk running out of cash or screwing up.

ps; And the Most Important Point, Wait till you are over 21 before you drive it

If you want to go that fast you might consider selling it and put into a bike. $5000 from stock is less than half of what you need.

Mugencho is right on the money with his guide, but while you have the tranny out to replace the clutch, you want to really pull the motor and install a new ported one (if your going for 10s you want a new motor really rather than just porting a 50k motor or whatever)

After that, its single turbo time or upgraded twins and off you go :P

Where are you in VA?

Oh and if the car's running fine, why rape it? Sell it/trade it for a highly modified FD that's already setup as such or closer to it. But before all that, I hope you have a LOT of experience w/ FDs, because that $5K would prob only last you 2 months and leave you w/ a broken motor if you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing. Lastly, if you bought an FD to run 10s, you bought the wrong car. Get an Mustang. You will spend prob $25K getting into the tens and keeping the car running along the way. The FD was never built for the drag strip, and thus you'll break pretty much every component along the way in your quest for the 10s...

oh yeah, i forgot the part where you blow the motor on the way to the strip! haha.

Seriously though Ramy, i don't think its impossible to make a reliable 10 second car, Reworx over here have a car that does back to back 10s and often gets into the 9s without problems...

Sure the motor might only last 20k, but if you want a car that does 10s your not going to DD it are you?

From the FAQ (https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/), which you should read entirely, you can find this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...threadid=27094
