Secondary Butterfly Valves...Needed?

I am having my UIM coated with ceramics and one shop won't remove the secondary valves for me and another will remove them but does not usually replace them after coating. I have read these are in place to help with cold running and to prevent backfiring when throttle is let off too fast. I want my car to run like new but with more power. Could these valves and dashpot be removed without problems?

Thanks

So no back firing or problems with cold starts? I like the idea of removing some restriction in the intake but not at the expense of daily driving.

Just make sure it's ONLY the double throttle they remove and not the actual throttle butterfly valves for the secondaries. If they remove the wrong ones, your secondaries will be at wide open throttle all the time.

Well the throttle body is here with me. I only sent them the UIM which has the secondary throttle valves on it. The place doing the coating is a rotary shop and the guy said they remove them all the time for customers. I was just curious how many people had removed them and if I should expect any starting/ driving changes due to removing them.

It won't affect anything. It's just there to make sure you don't open full throttle when cold. Having said that, you need to be carefull not to start the car cold and go WOTing right away before letting it warm up.
