Seat Belt Buckle

Seat Belt Buckle
I bought my '93 without a driver seat, but I have the belt . I bought an OMP race bucket, and I need a buckle to attach to the car until I get a roll cage. I would like to know if the FD seat belts are interchangeable with, say, MX-5s or other Mazda or Ford models. I just need a buckle, and those never show up in the classifieds. Also, I have asked Tomsn16 and Fritz. Neither have just a buckle (last I checked). It's always something that comes with the seat. Any suggestions??

I had the same problem with my car, I was able to go the junkyard and get a buckle out of another Mazda (don't remember the model unfortunately) and that worked with the existing OEM seatbelt. I did have to remove some plastic material from the buckle for the drivers side to get the seatbelt to clip into the buckle but I am still using it with no issues.

I know this is a few months old but curious if you ever found out what 90s Mazda buckle worked or if you just found an FD buckle? May help other folks out.
Also curious if it came with the electrical to plug into the sensor on the floor for buckle. My car had harnesses and it never annoyed me to buckle up so assumed there was something on that little sensor clip on floor board but nothing on it so that won't be an issue for me but would like it be annoying as stock if possible and warn me if not buckled up. I am in a similar situation where after finally tracking down decent OEM seats they did not come with buckles. I just ordered some seatbelts from over sea's so they are on the way. I also need the little seatbelt guilds on the seat (on back order from Ray) and I found seat belt trim triangle that goes into the rear quarter panel. Has been a pain going from aftermarket race seats / harness back to OEM seat set up but getting closer.

While looking, I investigated 3-point universal belt kits, but did not find anything encouraging - especially with "the belt is buckled" connectors. I am sure the universal kits would work, but I would like to know if anyone has successfully used one of the universal kits. I don't have tan interior (I have no interior), and the belts are as old as the car. I may go this route in the future, as I intend to use standard belts for some street driving. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I did not run across any Mazda / Ford models that have buckles / receivers that are interchangeable with the FD seat belt. I wound-up finding a tan buckle on the classifieds, and my search ended.

For your tan seatbelts, It is probably a bad ides to mess with seatbelt fabrics but maybe you could find a safe fabric dye for them and paint the plastic with decent plastic paint products like SIM? Again, just a thought and wouldn't want to mess with the safety and I think them plastic seatbelts will get scuffed up pretty quick and show that tan underneath but I would consider it if I was in your situation.
