searched...runnin rich

well...as stated, my cars runnin rich ( i know rich is better than lean...but its still wasted gas and with these prices....)

car's a non-cali runnin with a cali ecu (borrowed my friends to get my car home)
its throwin out the egr code (code 16).
IF i get a non-cali ecu (cant afford PFC yet)...will that fix the rich prob?

everythin else is pretty much new...injectors, engine (reman), turbos, vacuum lines...etc

thanks!

(side question...there are 4 bolts connecting the top of the precat to the motor, right?)

The stock ECUs all run "rich". There is a thread about this in the Advanced Tech Section ( https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=308996 ).

And yes there are 4 bolts connecting the top of the pre-cat (the top left bolt facing the car from the passenger side fender is hard to see). For more information search for stuff on downpipe installations.

What exactly is the problem? Is it just that you can't pass emissions?

Are you getting a lot of fumes from the exhaust or in the cockpit?

Well, the A/F gauge is really only (semi) accurate at WOT unless it's using a Wideband O2.

The rotaries have a little more "exhaust smell" than your typical piston car even in stock form. However, if it's excessive (and you still have the main cat), something could be wrong.
