I've been in an fd with a t78 and a screamer pipe. Was really obnoxiously loud & I like my cars loud. My FD with strait through un-silenced pipes was no where near that loud.

I guess with a smaller turbo it wouldn't be so bad, but personally, I don't see the point.

Do it sounds sick, when you floor it, it sounds like a race car, I wouldn't have it any other way! I guess I'm very lazy

I have a vented wastegate and I absolutely hate it. It's loud, extremely obnoxious, and lately I've been pondering rerouting it back into the exhaust. Even at the cost of 20 RWHP.

I'm running dual 44mm wastegates dumped to the atmosphere, car sounds MEAN. Is the car in that video running a dual setup, sorta sounds like it.

Surely it would be illegal to run a screamer pipe/dumped wastegate on public roads in the US?

Down here its an automatic defect-and-tow-it-home if a police officer finds out you have a BOV or a dumped wastegate or an exposed air filter element anywhere on the car.
Or it gets a wheel clamp on the side of the road and no driving for 30 days.

Mine has dual gates that are open dump. I'm fairly certain I'm going to plumb them back in. They are stupid loud.

You do know the exact second the gates start opening, so you know they're working... even if you aren't looking at the gauge.

For the people who have them, can you post a video. There's only one good fd video with a screamer pipe.

just search different terms on youtube

"external wastegate, open wastegate, vented wastegate, ect"

i also realize a external wastegate doesn't mean it's open but most ppl don't and will title videos this way.

I just went to dual open gates and it is ridiculously loud. Too much! Had a single Tial 44 previously and I was okay with the sound. I am going to try to join the 2 dump tubes together, route them further down near the rear of the car and add a small muffler. Worth a try and I don't think it will cost me any power.

4-inch exhaust here and open dump tube facing the ground for an even greater echo effect. Wouldn't have it any other way except maybe dual open wastegates. Brings a big smile and a shiver up the spine to hear the gates of hell open up.

Only if you never use the term "screamer pipe" again and we get a note from your mom.
Then it's ok.
