Scoote center hood duct and its function

Scoote center hood duct and its function
So i have a scoote replica hood which i believe its made by chaser... i bought the fiberglass version and its began to crack by the center vent/opening.. now im thinking of converting its function into making a air intake box using that as the inlet.
now ive seen some other replicas and curious about their function...
This is off the top of my head so please correct me if im wrong...
seibon has the least aggressive hood and center is blocked off?
Vis is more agggressive and the center is blocked off as well?
Chaser (the one i have) is open and has kind of a tunnel through the center of the hood which i believe is used for air to travel through and weight the hood down? correct me if im wrong again but this is my conclusion ive derived since this hood looks more stable then my stock hood.
now since the crack is side to side, i was thinking about cutting it completely and making some kind of intake box like the m2 one.. except the placement would be in the center. also i would make some sort of intake like goodfellas intake that places the filter between the motor and the radiator (fmic)
lmk what you guys think

my first replica scoot hood has the center vent that ran all the way to the back, it diverted air to cool the abs unit and brake booster. the vis unit had later on was blocked off as you stated, the rain shield was held on to the hood with some type of adhesive. it is possible to run a duct from the center scoop to an air box or filter.

fits decent slightly larger gap on the pass side.. but idc since it has a function and i can see heat soat leaving the vents... IMO this is the best hood because all the vent openings are larger then the vis and seibon ones that i have seen...
ill get you pics when i got home tomorrow night..
Interesting.. what effects does cooling the brake booster and abs have?
yeah as soon as the motor is put back in im gonna see how much room there is then start mocking up/fabbing

where'd you get the chase version? I never knew that the seibon version had a fake scoop because the last one I saw was functional. You don't necessarily need a duct, if you open the front scoop you're gonna get a lot of fresh air into the engine bay.

i might start fabricating today... i guess ill post up a step by step process?
Note: i cut the brackets off for that middle brace in the enginebay... kinda regrettign it now as that would have been perfect to support the ducting system im gonna try fabbing up..

EDIT- This was bugging me so I called seibon and asked what the deal was. From their own words: all of the ST-style (scoot) hoods have the center vent open, none of them are closed. If there are some that are not open they are not a seibon product.

yes, and if you open the vent yourself, you might want to look into strengthening the area so it keeps it's shape, shouldn't be that hard to come up with an easy way to do that.

just for info purpose.
i have a chaser FRP and all the vents are open. the middell front one has a grill and i left it there (all though it doesn't show because it is black) so that on a rainy days I put a piece of leather of the same shape of the opening so that the turbo doesn'T suck some water into my engine. My set up has an elbow infront of the intake of the turbo with a filter that positions it right infront of the opening on the hood. There is also heat reflection material that is glued under the hoot for obvious reasons. I don't have the best pics but just for reference:

No air goes forward and down to the turbos. The original ducts are exactly above the two brake units, not like in that pic. Rain guards screw in, not glue.

I've done this for my NA 20b. I have the older ill fitting fiberglass version that has the removable rain gutter that I bought really cheap about 5yrs ago from and individual. The tunnel feeds the brake booster and abs unit. Since it was the ill fitting version, I had to do some mods to make the hood line up correctly (which it now does). No pics yet as I'm nearly finished with all my body & fab work. I'll start a thread on the entire project when it's finished.
