Scoot hood ram air mod??

Hey I keep wondering if anyone has modded the air-intake on the front of the scoot style hood to make a ram air-type set-up??

I imagine the LS-X guys have, no? the intake for the LS-X is right there!

I love the hood... but something like that that isnt functional just screems PONTIAC. lol The power margin would be small, but efficiency mods are always a good thing!

I did that mod 6 months ago and it works good. And its a rotary not an lsx. I have a stainless heat shield that keeps the air from the radiator and a 4'' aluminun 90 degree ell that puts the air filter right below the opening. I just dont drive in the rain!

Just my personal opinion, but I've never liked the look of that hood.

What hood do you like most Rich? I got a mazdaspeed hood. The opening's on it are in a great spot for my radiator since I have a FMIC and the radiator is vertical now.

It is functional, it allows lots of damaging heat to exit the engine bay. I love that hood, and if i ever decide to buy an FD that hood will be the on i choose, makes the car look like a ******* shark

really? I really dont like the square-ish hoods... I mean it all depends on what front bumper/sides/spoiler you are running, but this one and the Feed hood are the only ones that go with the natural lines of the car IMO

really? does the front air 'scoop' make the later vents work more efficiently via air-flow dynamics? I just assumed it was there for aesthetics, but I could see it being useful that way if the FD's engine bay was designed to pump out all the engine bay air through the bottom...

I run a stock hood, and have never felt the need to get a vented hood to keep temps down.....it's definitely not a necessity. I've roadraced my FD in the texas summer with my BNRs at 15 psi with no issue (I had p/s and a/c deleted and a smic). I think it comes down to taste in looks/aesthetics more than anything.

I hate to say it but i bought the hood cheap and it does what i wanted it to at the track. Not my first choise. I had the car painted and have the scoot hood and the stock hood for road trips when i might get caught in the rain.
