Scared RX-7 Owner, PLEASE HELP

i got some new check valves for my 7 today and i was messing around with putting them in, and everything was going well. Everything until the last part, i was messing with this thing..... (im working on the photo, i attached it, now what?)

Now when i start the car up, the rpm's just "bounce" from about 500 - 1000 at about one second intervals

That thing is the picture is a filter connected to your MAP sensor , not a check valve

Bouncing idle usually means you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Keep looking. Dunno what else to tell you.

You may have knocked your TPS - I would do a check on that because it can cause a bouncing idle such as you described

What is a TPS??? How do i test that??

Does it matter which way the filter is on, i am pretty sure i put it on the right way.

(the bounce is actually from 500 to about 700)

yeah it does matter what way the gas filter is on but you have it right in the picture

the map sensor will cause your idle to be like that so no worries
make sure all the lines on the map sensor are connected tight no leaks and they dont have any slits in them. If that doesnt work then go ahead and reset the ecu by taking off the neg battery terminal and stepping on the brake pedal for a few minutes on and off. Then reconnect the terminal and see if its all better.

i tried resetting the ecu, that didnt work, i am fairly certain the lines for the map sensor arent leaking, i will doublecheck that, anyone if you have anything for me i would be grateful, also, when my idle bounces, blue smoke billows out of the car, (oil) im pretty sure there is an exhaust leak, im in the process of fixing that as well.

I am making a new write up of the problem so here goes.

last night i was replacing some of the check valves. I replaced 2, went out and drove it, the boost was a lil better, so then i came home and was about to replace the check valve between the upper intake manifold. i couldnt get at it, so i moved on (its probably the culprit) so anyway, i mistook the gas filter from the map sensor to the throttle body for a check valve and replaced it, i have been having a bouncing idle from 500 - 700, i resetted the ecu, and put everything back where it was, the problem persists, i am really frustrated and all i can think of is that there is a vacuum leak somewhere, if u have any insight i would be very grateful, thanks.

Try unplugging the electrical connector at the Map sensor, clean with some wd40 and replace, then reset the ecu again....worth a try and simple...

Not sure of the problem, but you might want to put some zip ties on those hoses

It would be beneficial to you to download the FSM. The T&L site link isn't working. Somebody else has it on their site but I can't remember who it is. Nevermind, I did a search - go to www.iluvmyrx7.com and find the shop book.
