Scam?
Hello everyone. I recently came across a red '93 RX-7 on cars.come for $3500. I thought maybe the motor was fried or something so I emailed the seller. I've received two emails back so far telling me the car is in great shape and in California. Also, the seller claims to have moved to England and needs the money bad, has several offers, and that after using ebay paypal 3rd party escrow service, he'll fly back and ship it to me for free. Smells fishy, downright rotten to me. The ad dissapeared the next day. Anyone know anything about this car? It's red and looks like it didn't make the cut for Fast&Furious (lots of body/interior mods). I thought about reporting to the BBB or something, but don't want to if the guy is legit (though that seems hard to believe).
What do you guys think?

We get a lot of them in our auto traders in canada. It's the same guy with the same story with a different car. It's almost funny because he's done it with so many cars. But unfortunately I'm sure someone out there bit the line.

SCAM!
The best way to check is to use the eBay contact member option and ask the member directly VIA the contact member. Do not send email to the email address provided because they are using someone else user name (the actual user did not even know that a listing was generated under their user name).
I would not respond at all to him/her personally because who knows what they can do once they have your IP address and your information (usually they request your name and address, etc)...less headache.

unfortunately, i dunno if the FBI will take it too seriously without hard evidence. the only thing you can really do is protect yourself and others as best you can.

Ya I used to make a game out of checking cars.com for scams, with Toyota Supras, Mazda Rx7s, Nissan 350z ect. It was always the same story guy moved to England wants you to transfer money to a third party escrow account and he will fly back to the states to give you the keys and registration, blah blah blah. There are barely any third party escrow angets who will hold money, even if they claim they are using SquareTrade with Ebay, ebay does not offer services like that. Please be careful with these people I lost $1,100 to a guy in Cananda who claimed he could source me a rb25det that i was going to swap into a 240sx.

It is a scam. I remember when I had a car for sale I got an email with that story, but with a few details changed. Wanted it shipped to England and he would take care of shipping and everything. Then send me a check afterwards. Total BS.

FBI does'nt do **** about anything online IMO. Not sure why they even have a sperate department for Internet Scams/Transactions etc...
The truth is there are many of these scams going on right now and unfortunatley the FD has been used quite often for these.
They will even take pictures from this site that other forum members have posted and try to sell it off as their own.
Don't buy anything out of country because you WILL NOT get your money back!
