Say, nice pulleys!

I've seen a few engine bay pics and I like the upgraded pulleys like used in the photo on left. I'm curious to know more about which pulley is for what. I got the alternator at 12, I think the water pump at 9? So that leaves the air conditioning and steering pump on the right with the inner right pulley for tension, right? Also, there is no air pump as compared to the more stock pic on the right?

Can someone edumacate me whats what and whats good about a pulley upgrade?

Correct. But in the "more stock" picture, it also has an under-drive main pulley.

Under drive pulleys arent good for daily drivers. if your runing a audio system A/C etc dont bother with them. All the under drive pulleys will have your 7 at about 12 volts or less at idle. They under drive the water pump, alt and main pulley. There lighter pulleys but i wouldnt bother with them unless its a track car.

what "shouldn't" you run for pulleys, if you want to have a nice stereo in the car with at least 1 subwoofer, depending on amps and what not? And I guess more importantly, what kinda battery, cable, grounding? I would want to remove the A/C so anything that should replace that?

And which is the A/C on the right, the one on top? power steering on the bottom right?

If this is a car used primarily for the street and your worried about demands on the alternator, I'd leave them stock.
The power steering pulley is at top right, A/C bottom right in the pictures.

I get 13.5V minimum at idle with a Pettit main pulley and all other pulleys stock. Are you talking about sets that also replace the alt/WP/etc pulleys?

Yah well I've heard about people getting the whole set or the alt and wp pulleys, but why some and not a whole set, aside from $$ of course?

I always have at least 13.5V at idle (900RPM), even with full electrical load including headlights, cooling fans, and AC. My alternator is a Mazda reman, purchased from Malloy a year and a half ago. As I mentioned, I'm running the Pettit main pulley, but stock pulleys for the rest.

I'm getting about 13.9 volts with lights, cooling fans, and upgraded sound system. And 14.3-14.2 volts without any electrical load. I'm also running the Greddy pully kit (waterpump and alternator pulley).

That's strange, mine was on that way and the motor was stock at the time so I installed it exactly as it was. Perhaps yours is on backwards.

One of the best sets out there, and it can be purchased in stock or under drive configuration.
