saw this FD yesterday for 4800.00

Im always looking too find a good deal on a FD, but the chances on that are slim. So anyways i see this FD in the rebuildables and i can tell by the picture that it has core support damage. anyways the car has like 56K and its is an R1 model. I call the place and ask the person how bad the damage is and they tell be its not so bad. Ok so i go and check it out and to my supprise the whole front is pushed in towards the motor and the intercooler is touching the alternator. Also the back quater panel is dented and it also pushed up the back hatch. Its also missing the right control arm and the whole disc and brake caliper. INside looks mint. At this point i tell the person i'll give 2G's for it and he tell me no. That people have offered 3500.00 and he has denied them. I tell him son you aint going to selll for 4800 to much stuff to fix and its gonna cost a arm, leg and a left nut. Hes like well too bad. So anyways i leave, kinda dissapointed cuz i really want one bad.Fucken bitch he aint gonna sell it. What are your opinions?

if the engine+tranny+turbos+rear diff is good, its worth at least 2-3.5k alone! the perfect interior is also unusual and would bring in some money as well.

(fk i wish i had a good tranny, the guys which owned the car before me could not drive very well and im out of a 5th gear . Its' so sad seeing as I had enuf power to actually put it to good use hehe)

Also why is he a Fucken bitch? Just because he does not want to get lowballed does not make him a bad guy. it does make him a guy wanting to get as much money as possible for his car which would be pretty much the same as all of us.

P.S. if you cant afford just the car for this price, you should not think about getting a FD, they are fairly expensive to fix up and maintain and/or upgrade even though you can do your own body work.

the way how you describe the FD seems to cost more to fix then just saving up more money and buy one in good condition

Shi*!! Someone stold this guys Caps Lock button also.. Bummer.

On topic, I've seen FD's on ebay with 1-2k worth of damage go for 5-8k. The front damage on the car in question sound's fairly extensive.

The mileage, and model are very appealing though. I guess it comes down to how much b.shop labor fee's are in your area, and how much you are willing to spend.

Ask him if he will part out the car. Could make more money that way anyway. As a rebuild that thing is useless. Compete wast of time, it would cost you more to rebuild it than it would to buy a good car.

a porject car is good if you know what your doing. but if you plan to pay to get it fixed then you should buy one that works already body work is expensive and so are parts for this car.

Bodywork isn't as expensive as you might think.

What is my opinion? Based on those select phrases from that post, my opinion is that you are an asshat and you don't deserve an FD. lowballing people, and getting pissed at someone for not selling you a car worth double what you offer is not a very good image to be giving off on this forum. please go buy something you can afford to take care of.

i agree, no reason to get pissed at someone for not taking your offer. you should be pissed at yourself for low balling him, cuz i know you would feel like a complete *** going back and offering more money. OH WELL, sucks to be you. you missed out on your chance to own a low mileage FD for a really low price.

whats your point, it's a pos that isn't going to be worth anything unless someone decided to put an assload of money into it, I don't see any reason he should pay 4800 for that. I am not attacking you just wondering what your point was

I agree that the guy should just part out the car, it's useless...

um, i think the point is pretty clear, if someone wanted a fd, they had better be prepared to pay more then you would for just the engine...

Perhaps you should look at a FB or FC, its more in your price range.

That sounds more like it. Heck, just wonder about the possibilities you can have with a good FC. You can get one very well modded for what you expect to spend on that FD in the end.

Go to JR's Rotary on CLiff street in Paterson and see if Ito has one to sell you. He has a bunch of them at his shop in much better condition that that. I;m sure he has one or knows someone who can sell you one

I got a preliminary quote for my car after it was damaged and it came out to be about 18 grand....The mechanic said there are still other little things that will add up. I was like Holy crap the car only cost 15k in the first place. Buy a good running one. I sold mine for 4,200 as is.
