Thumbs up Saw A 93 touring with 9000 miles today!

I was up at Morrie's Mazda in Wayzata Minnesota today. I wandered upstairs after getting my parts to check out the mazdaspeed protege, when I happened across a stunning looking black 93 FD touring.

looking at the sticker it only had 9,000 original miles!
I hopped in the driver seat, the interior was like new in every way, nary a scratch on the door jamb from feet hitting it. The chrome around the gauges shiny and the carpet cleen, the red leather seats and red interior not even a hint of fading or cracking.

the exterior was equally flawless. wheels like new, no scrathecs or tiny rock dings. the undecarriage/radiator seal thing with barely even a scuff. and the engine bay sparkeled.

I asked what it was going for, and they said about $26,000. Comforting to know a prime [stock] example of our cars has not even depreciated $10,000 in ten years.
turns out they have a 95 R2 they're bringin out after they sell this one with only 5,000 miles. I know if i did'nt have my fd already, i would want to buy this one.

heh my dads car has about 9500miles on it... (17000km), a 93 touring MB. we got it for a deal if they want 26usd, we paid under that for sure.
apparently some dealer in the north of calgary(apparently) is selling a nearly zero milage car for 45k cnd. i can't remember if they got that, or if the car existed, i just remember reading in the can forum. i would like to see some pics as well.

i ended up remember that the car being sold has 8km. eight. i was wondering what effect that would have on a motor, if it wasn't run for 10 or so years? would the springs in the seals go bad from being in the same position for years?

They didn't say, but I'll ask if I go there again. I'm sure they'd be happy to let me take a few pics too.

honestly, I've seen only two black FDs, the one I saw today, and one in Mankato, MN.

In MN (based on what I've seen on the road) , Red seems the most common, followed by yellow, then montego blue, then silver. seen 1 black on eon the road, no white Fds. full tan interiors and all black usually a few are blaack w/ tan seats and carpet

FD's in Minneapolis area

I've been to Morrie's several times, did you see the red one in the showroom that has 5k on it? (Not for sale) That's supposedly Morrie Wagoner's actual car. That's the best one I've ever seen. Didn't look like it had ever been driven or even been outside. Come to think of it I believe they said it was going to get moved elsewhere once the Mazdaspeed Protege was in, so maybe they don't have it out anymore.

In terms of FD's around MN, I have a black '93 touring, and I've seen another black '93 in for service and a black '93 with 40k on it for sale at Morries (They wanted $19k). I've test driven a '93 with 35k miles on it (they wanted $20k, it was in excellent shape except for the motor) and I've seen 2 Red FD's and one black on the road and I know there's at least one more red and a montego blue in the club. (Northstar Rotary Rockets)

They're around but they're pretty rare in the winter.

GooRoo, I did see a red FD up there once, but i don't think it was morrie's. Right now there was just the one Black FD for sale, and a red one down in service.

I plan to join the Northstar rotary club sometime, I've had my FD for 2years. I've got a Montego Blue Mica (my faveortie color aside from silver Stone) '94 PEP with tan on black interior.

What city do you live in Goo Roo? I used to live in Elk River, bu Moved to Andover in June. come to think of it, I've seen a black FD touring driving on 242/Main a couple of times around TCF and target.Kinda off Northdale, Riverdale, the car looked nice, it was going onto HWY 10 I think. that's not you is it?

Oh, anyways, I'm gonna borrow my friends digital cam and probably go take some pics tommorrow and post them up wednsday night for all you to enjoy!

I emailed them about the cars... Here is what they said...

Dear Jon -- Thank you for your inquiry about our RX-7's.

We now have two 3rd-generation RX-7's. The closest to your car is the 1994 R2 -- black with red leather
interior and a manual transmission -- with approximately 7,000 miles.

This wonderful car belonged to one of our customers, who purchased it new from us and traded it back to
us recently. It's on our showroom floor. Obviously, it has been pampered, and is in wonderful condition --
probably one of the few such cars in the country that's for sale. We're asking $29,995 for it.

We also just took in a red RX-7 with the Touring (R2) Package and 90,000 miles. The car just came in
and the price hasn't been set yet.

I dont think the lady knew the difference between the touring or the R2 models... But I'm guessing the R2 they have, if it even is a R2 is red...

yeah, I didn't know mazda released a touring R2. All that i can figure is maybe they got another Vintage Red FD PEP with the R2 front and rear spoiler?

Bought a 94 red base, totally stock with 20,310 miles for $16,500 after much negotiations in eastern Washington State. Has 40,000 now and I would expect at least what I paid for it.
Hard to find cars and very special.

Hey all, new here.

I lived up in that area up until about 6 months ago. Unless it's a crazy coincidence, I looked at that same 93 Touring about a year and a half ago there. It was very clean but they were asking about 30k for it at the time. If it is the same one, I think it has a sticker on the passenger side of the windshield stating that it was 1993 Import Car of the Year.

Morries does do a somewhat good job of getting RX7's and other sports cars in stock. Their buyer must be a car nut. They also have/had a nice 1G set up for road racing (real loud too). I talked to one of the salespeople there that had bought a mint Stealth TT, black with white leather and Fittipaldi rims off their lot for his wife.

Nice to be a part of this forum.

Jason

didn't like it? WTF?!! well, you got an awesome deal, I wish I would've gotten something like that!!!

When I was at morrie's I was mainly there to see the mazdaspeed protege, I'm thinking about getting a new sedan. I wanted to drive it , but my left hand is injured so I couldn't. has anyone driven one yet? any thoughts on it? $20,500 doesn't seem bad for such a car. hmm.. maybe I should wait a year and see about an RX-8....

I haven't gptten back up there to take any pics yet, but when I do, I'll be sure to post them.
