I'm not sure they had a specific rating system in 92 when the FD came out. All FDs have driver's side airbags, 94+ have passenger as well. Many people on the forum have survived big crashes, some haven't. If this is a big concern for you, then I suggest NOT buying an FD.

BTW, the current rating system is a joke, as it only compares how well a vehicle will do when hitting another vehicle of a similar mass. Do you really think a 5-star rated Civic is safer than a 4-star SUV?

Also, the great thing about cars like the FD is you can more easily dodge the accident in the first place.

injury index = 4/5 (where 5/5 is best)
collision index = 1/5 (where 5/5 is best)

so you're likely to pay a lot and not get hurt if you get into an accident.

that's all I could find right away - call your insurance company for more info - they have all that stuff stored - that's how they determine your insurance rates.

edit: I got that info from cars.com > prices & research > '94 RX7 > Safety

actually you'd be surprised, my friend was in an accident in a civic and the car was totaled but she was fine.

That doesn't surprise me, I was just trying to point out that the current ratings system is not an absolute scale. You're still probably safer in a 3-star rated SUV than a 5-star rated civic. Personally, I could care less. If it's your time, it's your time.
