Safety of running higher boost with higher octane?

Im heading off to the drag strip on opening day this season, and wanted to step it up a notch this year. I am running a pettit ECU with stock seq twins, and right now my high boost setting is 14psi (other mods in sig). At a local gas station I can pick up 110 octane, and was wondering if it would be enough to prevent detonation if I were to push the twins to 17psi with that fuel? I know this isnt in the peak efficiency range of the turbos, and it will be stressing them pretty well, but just for 3-5 runs one night at the track I am more concerend about my engine that the turbos. Just looking for some insight as Ive never done any experimenting with more boost and higher octane before on this ECU.

It will help since everything in the engine will be hotter since the turbos are going to be heating things up. If any localized hot spots happen, the higher octane would help keep it from pre-igniting. Although depending on the weather, might not have to worry about it since it's such a short run. If you're doing run, stage, run, stage, then yeah get it to be safe since it's not cooling off any inbetween runs.

Even with higher octane, I don't think the stock fuel system will supply enough fuel to run that high of boost on the twins. Another concern would be if the Pettit ecu is even mapped to go that high (probably they just have it pig rich above 15 psi). A third concern would be you start hitting the limits of the stock MAP sensor at 16-17 psi.

Crap yeah, I missed that part. Don't go over 15 psi with the Pettit ecu like Rynberg stated.

Also.. Correct me if I'm wrong..Running the pettit unlimited still sees your o2 sensor. The lead in 110 will foul it up and make your car run like ****..

The 110 is unleaded.

Please dont do it. Its not worth the risk. Save your money. Go standalone. Go single. Then 17psi. Delayed gratification brudda

The potential gain is a good slip.
The potential loss is your engine and its not fun to pay for or rebuild even if you do it yourself.
