Safe boost?

Safe boost?

I just got my car back from RP with an apexi pfc. i have played around a little with the boost and was able to get .80 bar. can i run that much boost at any time or more. and i was debating wether to get a fmic or the greddy stock replacement.

current mods as follows:
apex intake
3" HKS downpipe w/ straight pipe exhaust
apex pfc dyno tuned by RP
total smog removal ie, acv, egr, cat, air pump, and misc other parts that have been blocked off

.80 Boost is about 11.92 PSI, which is roughly 12, safe to run with an upgraded ECU and a few mods. You should be ok till about 12.5 for normal driving, but I wouldnt go any higher for regular driving.

If you are going to drag or just want to have a little fun, there is no harm in going to about 14, as long as you dont over-do it or do it when its extremely hot outside.

I'd go with a large SMIC or go with the greddy 3-row FMIC if you'd like to tear up the front end a little

.8 bar is only like 12 psi of boost, you shouldnt turn the boost up much more for everyday driving without an aftermarket IC. 1 bar is as much as I would run all the time with your upgrades, you might be ok if you run a little more than that every once in a while but not all the time.

thanks for the info, I can't find any tuners I can trust in Houston so I might just take to RP. IMO 12psi is the max stock IC can handle, also on pump gas (93 octane) 14.7psi would be the most without the risk of detonation
