Question Sad Test Drive!?

Hey Guys... I am looking to buy an FD and I found a nice red touring with 50,000 miles. I took it for a test drive and I didn't feel any pull from the turbos at all. I drive a 91 eagle talon turbo right now and it seems faster than the RX7 which I don't think should be. It was the first one that I have driven so I wanted to know if the turbos spooling should be really easy to notice.

Thanks

IT most likely had some sort of a boost leak. Get a boost gauge from somewhere and hook it up to the nipple on the upper intake manifold and see what the boost pattern is. Also make sure you get a compression test done, and check out this guide.....

Did the car have a DP? I drove once in a completely stock rx7 and you can definently full the turbos pull... more so with a DP. Did the driver hit boost??

Turbos kick in at about 3k rpm. You should get a boost gauge and hook it up for the test drive.

Read Rob Robinette's buyers guide on www.rx7turboturbo.com or the one at www.scuderiaciriani.com

Thanks for the quick replies! Yeah... I knew about taking a boost gauge but I wasn't sure if I needed some sort of special adapter or what cause on my talon I have the hose connected to a T fitting and into the vacum/boost hose.

The nipple on the passenger side of the intake is a good spot for a boost gauge. It's about 1/8" diameter. Just slip on a hose to your boost gauge, and it's done.
