Let me guess, this is the first time you are driving a vehicle that needs throttle control...

"When it caught traction" it threw you forward and you "nailed the throttle"? For your next car may I recommend something your intelligence/skill level should be able to control:

That way you can learn to drive before throwing ridiculous amounts of power into a low traction situation.
Maybe your screen name shouldn't be "helloworld", but rather "good bye forum".

As everyone else has said already....
SORRY for the lose BUT it is replaceable. It is a good thing that everyone came out of it O.K.

BTW... what year is your FD? The year may help you get more $$$ from the insurance. Make sure you strip out all your good items BEFORE the insurance company takes it IF they decide to total it.

Sucks man, glad you're alright though. It's an even bigger shame this happened 50 miles after getting it perfect...Guess it's time for a new build though...

Hey man, just look at the good side, looks like Almost all of the parts are perfect still, including your new engine, so you can just pull it out, and put it in whatever car you please . Is anyone besides me thinking turbo 13b SA/FB?

Hate to hear it, but you are ok so that is all that matters, there are several fds still left around the country and the price on them is the best it has been ever.

White fds just got even more rare today, I hate to see any fd be totaled/parted, but a white one is a kick to the points.

thanks co*cksucker...
1, yes it was my bad for having ET on the street on a cold day, i admit it and said it.
2. i was doning for passing a car, i would not call that wreckless, the reason i was so far in was when it caught traction it pushed me foward and slammed my foot into the pedel, it show 0-19psi in about 2 sec.
3, you have know idea what i've driven owned and have in the pass. I have done track and amature race events on my motorcycle, that requiers more control then cars in most cases, and thrttole control? yeah lets see how well you control it when you get slammed into the gas pedal.
4, your a dick and probably dont have and FD or if you do you have no idea how to work on it anyways....End..

Guys,

Thanks for the kind words guys, im just soar but ok for the most part.. my pride, ego, and a weird sense of emptiness is all i have right now... werid, i knew i love the car, it has sentemental value.. hours every night in the garage clean it, my roomate knew not to touch the car or evey ask to eat in it. its almost like i lost a friend. ..
The plan is to deal with the insurance, i have a huge amount in reciept so hoping to get alot back, way more the bluebook. Then decided if i wan to fix it, buy a shell and swap everything over, or part everything out and look for something new. I will keep you all update.. one thing i do ask is the hook up on paint and body.. If i decided to fix it i would most likely need to pull the engine, cut the drive side fender reinforment, weld new one on, make sure its stright and varify the same for suspension. from then its all cosmetics, engine and drive train is perfect. So if you have the hook up on body please PM me.

Im thinking about starting a "help me get my broke *** FD fund", but then again so is half the other FD in this forum lol...
If anyone knows of a ok shell, clean title, does not need a good interior, just good frame and body please let me know.. if i decided to not fix this but keep the engine, i can swap everything over including the full interior.

Thanks

Tony

to answer some more question, its a 94.
i looked under the car and the main frame seems to be ok, not dents or kinks, all i see is the fender support or what everyou called it was pushed up and that is why the strut bar is bent, if this is to be fixed i would need to cut it out and weld on a new one. other then that everything seems to be ok, mostly cosmetics..
About the place of the accident, if it have been 5ft over in any direction i would have nailed a tree, also i guess the when the car bucked and i nail the gas it sent me somewhat airborn according to jay who was behind me. that save me from fliping because it was about a good 8inches elevation change, all and all i am glad i came out ok. it could have been much worst.

thanks again guys, i'll keep you all posted on what happens and what the insurace says and what direction i plan on taking with the car. Feel free to PM me if you think you can help

I just went threw this so I know how it feels. I did it the same way as you also, passing somebody. Keep your head up. I went and purchased another FD with the insurance money and im still in the process of building the new FD up. Good luck with everything and don't settle with the insurance right away.

Like it or not, he's right. Just acknowledge or ignore it, and move on. No need to add personal attacks which are against the forum policies and only get you in trouble.

Good that you are ok.

When the insurance gives you an offer don't accept it right away. If it looks like they are too low take the time to dig up some ads on autotrader and ebay to establish a replacement value with them. They will usually come up with some average value that is more in line with its actual value.

That is how I managed to get $1000 from insurance for my Chevy Sprint without totalling it when a beer truck rear ended me. The original offer was $700 and salvage title.
