Question RZ keyless entry part #'s

Anyone running a mazda keyless entry system? I found one place that mentioned the late model rx7's had them and the rz model. There used to be a guy on here that sold the parts but he no longer has a web site... Seems like the remote was part of the key?

It's way easier and cheaper to just add keyless yourself. Also, if you use a quality actuator and tie into the cable bracket and drill a clean/sturdy hole through the handle the entire thing will be just as reliable as factory keyless. Don't tie into the cable, like some people tried.

FYI: the factory uses an actuator inside the door shell with a lever running to the interior side.

When you say "don't tie into the cable" what do you mean?

I mean; some people connected thier actuator rod to the cable of the lock. You want to either tie the linking rod from the actuator eyelet to the cable end cap or the lever plastic.

Just pulling the cable alone will stretch, skew, fray and/or break it.

OK, so the stock actuators cannot be controlled with an aftermarket system?

Yes, IT can. There is only one actuator for the pass. side.

But, just hook up your own actuator to control the driver's lever. That effectivley makes the pass. side a slave that you don't have to touch.

I hooked mine up just using the term 'keyless' in the search function. Search for 'in title only'. What you will find are several pictures of actuator's and you will need to copy one.

The passenger door automatically unlocks when you unlock the drivers doesn't it? or is that only mine? My car had a keyless entry installed prior to my ownership but was unhooked and still has the actuator in the drivers door. When I unlock or lock my drivers door my passenger unlocks/locks automatically and beeps for the alarm.

I guess on JDM cars the USDM driver side has an actuator. That might be a better solution if someone can source it because of the OEM fit and reliability.

Lot of people have mentioned it, nobody has taken the plunge. It looks like a really great setup, assuming it is compatible.

Options are:
1. Keyless card, retain stock ignition switch
2. Keyless card, turn style ignition switch
3. Keyless card, push start ignition switch

Someone's gotta do it!!

kind of off topic but my driver side lock cylinder broke (spring is sticking out), if I replaced it with a mazda lock would I need a new key?

I have taken a lock cylinder apart before (some bending and cursing required) and filed down internal plates to make them work with the key at hand, or removed plates to make them work with the key at hand, and several other keys out in the world.

Keyless entry without an alarm seems silly. An alarm without 2-way paging is worthless....


I like the advanced key idea, except the lack of two-way paging.
