RXFashion CAI Help

I finally got around to installing this thing today. I rerouted the little hose from the overflow to the AST so as not to stretch it around the intake, and I removed the two supports for the old intake in order to line up the intake with the hole for the screw in the body of the car. Only problem is... the pipe from the ACV isn't long enough to contact its hole without touching the air pump pulley. Even then, it barely makes it.

I know I'm doing something wrong. If I unscrew the intake and shove it up and back as far as I can, all of the pipes fit fine. Should I leave one of the original supports in to screw it onto?

I'd post some pics but I lent my camera to a friend for the weekend.

Any help is appreciated. Pictures especially.

Dave,

mine was a PITA to install...plus I have a koyo radiator...

You are correct that you are suppose to remove the old supports for the stock airbox and the box should sit on the frame.

My car is in a million pieces otherwise I would post pics....help me out which pipe isn't long enough??

All of mine fit. I have the hard pipes and had to cut the lower one from the turbo to make it fit better. The pipe from the airpump needed to be removed because it was too short and we fitted another tube in its place.

The pipe from the ACV is too short (coming from near the passenger side of the UIM above the Y-Pipe). It's the rightmost pipe. Also, the pipe from the CRV won't stay on by itself unless I move the CAI back some more. I had to stretch it to get it to fit. Maybe my clamp is a little too loose. The main problem is the AVC hose. In order to have the CAI screwed down, the pipe HAS to hit the pulley. I wish I had my camera. If you still don't see what I'm saying, I'll get a camera of some form and post a pic tomorrow.

I had no problem with the airpump piping. Do you think I could maybe just buy some generic braided hose of the same size to fix my length issues (don't even go there)?

No, no hard pipes.

OK, I'll try describing this a different way.

There are 4 small holes, and two large holes. If you are facing the rear of the intake there is one small hole on the left, two large holes in the middle (with the top one having a small hole coming out of it), and two small holes on the right.

**** it, let me draw it in CAD.

The problem pipe is the one going to the ACV. The stock intake has the pipe several inches higher, and that's why the tubing hits the pulley.

Oh no mine fit fine....that tube lined right up and didn't come close to the pulley as far as I can remember.

The only different was the shop cut the lower hardpipe from the front turbo so it would fit easier, otherwise everything was pushed high.

Great CAD....

but I am not sure why yours isn't fitting well. It definitely is sitting on the frame? The left side kinda tucked underneath the headlight frame on the left?

I took some other pictures but this one illustrates the problem the best. The ACV is the black pipe on the top, and it is supposed to go onto the empty pipe on the box going in the same direction.

In the first pic you can see that the box's mounting hole is lined up with the screw hole on the body. Is that supposed to be there, or sitting on top of the brown thing the original intake box was mounted on?

Dave, WTH ?? I just got around to look at these pics. I don't understand. Those hoses fit perfectly on mine and Jack's. With the multiple crap engine jobs I've had over the past two years, that box has come in and out of the car a good 5-6 times and never once had a prob. with fitment. Did you ever get this straightened out ? Gonna call you tomm. to see what's up.

Ted, I CCed you on an email I sent to Chuck from RE. He got everything sorted out for me. I'm going to go ghetto style and get some plumbing tubes when I get a chance.
