anyone ever try puttin in rx8 seats in their fd? anyone got pics if they were sucessful and how difficult was it?

 

This has come up a few times but I don't ever remember seeing a successful attempt. Maybe something to do with the larger size rx-8 seats not fitting in the 7.

I would be interested in seeing if it has been done.

 

I started a thread about this a couple of months ago and a guy on here that has an 8 and a 7 said he was going to try it out by just sitting them in the FD. I never heard anything back, I was really interested in this myself. I did go and measure the seats in the 8 and it looks like its going to be hard due to the motorized seat for the driver. they look awesome with the rotor shaped headrest. You would have to fabricate the stock rails to meet up with the 8 seats. I would love to still see it though.

 

how much wider are the rx8 seats than the rx7?

 

its not so much the seat but the rails and the seat mechanism that is so wide.

 

not so much worried about the rails but the mechanism may be a big *** problem.

 

i just saw a thread that had the rx8 seats in i think it was the 1st gen or second gen rx7 anyone got pics or info on the 3rd gen

I want pics too please. You could get the seats to fit if you can do a little custom work. The rails and the bottom of the seat on the 8 look way different. the FD's seats are very slim between the rails and where the bottom cushion hits your butt, thats where the major difference is. Plus there are no colors that match up good especially if you have the tan interior! I know with some fabrication someone could make it work.
