I think its like that because it wasn't suppose to be a true sports car. Its suppose to be a sports coupe. I'm thinking maybe the same class as SC300/400.

Just waht I think.

Technically, a sports car has no more than 2 seats. However, I'll reserve judgment until the tests.

Come on people!! Rx-7 first gen, Rx-7 second gen, Rx-7 third gen, Rx-8. See my point. This is not another Rx-7 nor is it in the same class. It would be like comparing an Rx-3 to the Rx-7. They are different! I think the Rx-8 will be along the same lines as maybe an IS 300 or maybe even an M3. If it isn't the type of car you want that is fine but don't say it isn't meeting your expectations because there are none to meet. Once again Mazda is going to break new ground with this car just as they did with the Miata and Rx-7. It might not be a pure sports car like the 3rd gen but it will be cool. I just hope Mazda can take that comment to the bank or I bet there will never be a 4th gen Rx-7.

To me the RX-8 may be the most exciting new car since the 93 RX-7 came out. It's perfect balance and light weight should give it great handling. It's 250 hp NA powerplant looks like it will be S2000 like in it power delivery (no tt but still cool). Plus, it has great styling and seats four comfortably! What's there to complain about? No, it's not better than the RX-7. It's not even a true sports car. I think it's the closest to it that a four-door has come though. I hope the rotary makes a comback with this one! If so, we may get a 4th gen 7 next .

I didn't see dis1's reply before I wrote mine but it looks like we're thinking along the same lines.

i really like the looks of the rx8. for a 4-door sports sedan, it's pretty bad ***, and what's wrong with *only* 250 hp? the 3rd gen *only* has 255, but it's the light weight aspect of the cars that makes em go

and besides, mazda has said it isn't the new rx7. they want several cars to be rotary based, which will only help our cause for a 4th gen rx7.

The Japanese FD's now have 280 hp, so it's more of a downgrade for them, and the torque on the renesis engine is kind of poor, but that's rotary engines for you. Hopefully people will come out with some badass parts for it. And about it having four seats, some of the japanese seven's are four seaters as well, though they still only have two doors.

Call it a 2+2 with suicide doors. It's not a true 4-door performance sedan by any means. You want to fit 4 adults in it, be my guest.
