RX7store hard pipes fit on stock airbox? Yes! (pics)

With all the talk about the cheapo Bomez pipes not fitting, I can unequivocally say that Jason's pipes fit. While waiting for the Apexi intakes to come in on this rainy day, I was curious if the stock airbox would fit with the pipes. Considering Cali smog cert(including visual inspection) is coming up it was good to know. I've never seen pics of them with the stock airbox on the forum yet either so here you go:

Jason's pipes from the store. Pricier, but worth it. No major muscling/coupler-twisting required. Haven't road-tested for a likely boost increase with all the rain yet, but they sure make the turbos sing, even thru the stock POS airbox.

*Edit* Ya know, if the stock airbox was prettier like the M2 and someone offered hard BOV/CRV/air pump pipes, it wouldn't look half bad.

Yes. They are the same length as the rubber accordion ones. You can always adjust the pipes to adjust for hood clearance, etc. Tomorrow the Apexi's come in and I'll post an installed pic. Just wanted to put to rest any concerns that Jason's pipes won't fit the stock airbox. Next stop, GReddy 2 or 3-row, pipes and elbow.

P.S. And no I'm not going single yet until I torch the twins and/or motor.

List for $229 shipped. He may discount a bit if you're a regular customer.

When I get the Y-pipe, elbow and pipings, preferably with the GReddy 2-row. Anyone have a solution for this relay bracket, maybe polished?

You mean with the stock airbox obviously, right? That is expected.

One word for you: Moooohhh. Not sure if you heard what it sounded like on my car Putting on a midpipe and removing the airpump solves that problem though. I am willing to bet their is a chance you could fit the hardpipes with intake filters with a greddy 2 Row FMIC as I made it fit without bending the stock accordion pipes (Had to remove air pump though). Or you could just have custom piping welded to make it work too.

You should've taken a photo of the primary turbo hose setup as well. That's the one that gives everyone trouble....

I polished mine, it was somewhat of a pain because of the niche's and crannie's. Just get the thing powdercoated "almost chrome" or whatever color they have. It will look muuuuuchhhhh better and that tiny thing....pshhhhh - cheap!

that thing does look bad against the red background. You should just sand it and paint it gloss black

no i think the bomz usually went for like $40-50

it was this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEBWN%3AIT

snook said apparently its very thin metal and had some kind of clear coat on the outside that he had to grind through....?
