Talking RX7Club saves the day

Today was the dreaded fuel filter change. I have the shop manual and it shows that it can done in 3 easy steps...how hard can it be?

Lemme say that after 30 mins, I was so mad that I was ready to start throwing my tools at random people walking around in my neighborhood. lol

A quick search here revealed that the mounting bolts for the fuel filter bracket can be accessed from behind with a 3" extension. Since you can't see hardly anything up there, I thought they were only accessible from the bottom using an open end wrench. I found some posts here that made it smoooth sailing. The hoses were a little hard to get off, but not too bad. The filter definitely needed to be changed! It wasn't super plugged, but there was defnitely a mild to moderate restriction.

I just bought the car with 95,000 miles. The filter does not look original, but I have no idea when it was last changed.

To get underneath the car, I bought some $20 ramps at Kragen and put them in my driveway. I backed the car down the driveway until the rear wheels were up on the ramps. Depending on how steep your driveway is, this will give you a lot of room to work underneath the car.
