I have a touring model with 99 spec brakes and aftermarket rims. I just had the car corner balanced. With all that weight, my car still came in at 2800 pounds.

Does it ride on 24 inch spinnas and have a mad tight system, 12 12's pushing 29,000 watts? Oh, and does it havea huge wing and bodykit. That is what it would take to weigh over 3200 lbs.

GVWR = 3201
Gross Vehicle Weight (Rating?)

I'm guessing that's the most weight the car was designed for, including passengers and cargo. It's not what your car weighs.

That's the gross weight on the door jam sticker, not actual weight.

take out 2 passengers @ 180 lbs per and that's the weight

3207-(2*180)=
3207-360=

2847 <=== I don't know if that includes cargo load or just because it's a touring...

Curb weight for 93s (ie no cargo, passengers, or fluids, if I understand correctly):

2789 (base model with 5 speed)
2857 (base model with automatic)
2800 (R1)
2862 (Touring with 5 speed)
2923 (Touring with automatic)

Don't have stats for 94s.

That doesn't leave much room at all. rotorsownyou7, for the record, body kits won't add weight. Most ppl use fiberglass bumpers. They're lighter than the stock rubber bumpers. You might save a few pounds here or there. CF hoods are pretty much a spot on match for the stock aluminum hood. Adding skirts or a diffuser adds negligible weight. Sound system equipment, however, a roll bar, and maybe a few additions here and there, average rims adding about 10 lbs a corner, a full tank of gas, and 2 passengers, yea I can fully see an FD tipping the scales at a bit over 3000 lbs. But keep in mind all the other cars have CURB weights of 3200+, so their GROSS weight will be into the 3500s+. The scale slides for both of us, don't worry Although I'm now all super paranoid at how easy it is to reach 3K lbs

Oh and FYI, the '98 Supra Turbo has a CURB weight (ie EMPTY weight) of 3445 lbs. Add pretty much ANYTHING, and you're into the 3700 lb range. You'd have well over 700 lbs on it. That's a HUGE difference

I weighed my 94 base yesterday with 3/4 tank of gas. It came out to 2777. I had no idea how close to 50-50 the thing was. It showed 49.5 and 50.5 .

How is your base FD w/ gas in it lighter than the curb weight of the base FD? Is she gutted? Either that, or that scale needs to be recalibrated.

Curb weight includes all fluids and full tank of gas but no cargo or passengers so a base with 3/4 tank will weight less than curb weight

I weighed my r1 at a truck weighing station the other day. Full tank of gas and some safety equipment came out to 2740 lbs. I do have aftermarket dp, high flow cat and cb tho. Makes me think that the curb weight includes the tank of gas.. Then again, I have no idea how accurate those truck weighing stations are.

Yeah, you can save a lot of weight by going full aftermarket on the exhaust. That's about all I've done on my touring model besides a smaller battery, tie down removal and light aluminium bodied shocks. Added up to about a 100lb reduction.

That's good to know. I suspected the aftermarket hollow piping would be lighter than the heavy precat and cat, but wasn't sure.

Also, as I mentioned before, some things are really trade-offs, so you don't really lose or gain much weight. Take off stock bumpers and stock re-bar, put on fiberglass bumpers... little net change. Take out spare tire, put in audio equipment, little net change. I'd still like to pass by a truck weight station and get the FD weighed. I tried once, but turns out it didn't have a digital readout. It simply gave a green light if you were light enough, or a red light if you were overweight.

Anyone know if it's breaking any laws if you stop off at one of those stations (ie is it for trucks ONLY?) Cuz in my area, they'll pull you over for ANYTHING lol.

The difference between the stock exhaust and a RB dual tip is about 9 lbs, so there is a not a lot of weight saving there. Probably somewhat more with a downpipe, but I would doubt it would be significant either.

And a midpipe? I'd imagine the stock cat is fairly heavy.. And removing the airpump was def. quite a few lbs when I pulled it out...

take the bose system, cruise control, and rear wiper out

you want more extreme?
take airpump, ac, ps out; replace rear hatch with a CF one with lexan window

keep the stock wheels

remove power window mecanism and replace windows with lexan

remove pop-up lights and replace with lightweight light kit

remove front and rear bumpers and reinstall empty bumper covers (not so safe or legal)

remove all carpets, take out all sound insulation and put carpet back (if you want it)

replace seats with Spirit R Carbon Kevlar Recaro driver seat and leave passenger seat out

PC680 Mini Battery

remove power antenna

anything else?? oh yea, remove turbo system and related plumbing and convert to N/A
