Is the RX7 store short shift kit really identical to the Mazdaspeed kit, they claim it is. Anyone have one?

I would look into the B&M or Pettit. I have the B&M right now, and I love it. It reduces the throw by 33%, and it replaces the whole base. I hear the Mazdaspeed one (and the RX7store one) is only the shifter, and while it reduces the throw by 50%, you have to use the stock base. The B&M is a direct bolt on, and the Rx7store one will take some work. Pettit reduces by 50%, too, I believe, but I am not sure on how they put it together (the ease of installation). I personally went with B&M because it is easier to install, works great, and costs less than the others.

The Gotham racing shifter is a copy of a B&M type one, from what I understand.

Yes, from what I've read and heard the rx7store short shifter is a direct copy of the mazdaspeed.

In my last FD I had the Mazdaspeed, it was very nice and only took 10-20 minutes to install. My friend bought the B&M about the same time and I installed his as well, it took the same amount of time to install. I drove his car after the install, I honestly like the Mazdaspeed shifter better.

The Mazdaspeed shifter does include the base and fits like and OEM part. Fit and finish is also just as an OEM part would be. Can't comment on the others since I haven't had any experience with them.

I also have the Mazdaspeed shortshifter, and it feels like a 50% decrease in shift length. It fits perfectly and feels exactly like stock. Easy to get into gears and easy install.

Yep, I have it. It's the same as what Pettit sells which I also believe is a Mazdaspeed clone. Comes with everything you need. Takes a little longer to install than the B&M, but the throws are much shorter.

I have the Mazdatrix shortshifter. I believe it's a copy of the Mazdaspeed as well. Throws are short, but it's a bit stiff, and I've had it for several thousand miles.
